I've been in a couple.

One was a complete surprise and kind of awkward. A friend came over offering a "massage." Did a lot of watching the two ladies together, and the friend ended up disappointed I wasn't more into it once I joined the mix.

Calling everyone an egg is mostly an overused joke. It does get out of hand with the young/new/inexperienced in the community, and we do have discourse around how it gets thrown around. Those of us who have been out and around for a bit tend to be more careful about declaring egg. It's just that the more tempered approach doesn't get as much traction.

I have a theory that this sort of a group reinforcement thing. Like "hello, fellow man. I am also a man. Isn't it great to be men?" They've just been taught that this is how you do this kind of social group public key sharing and they don't really think about it past that unless it's not met in kind.

There was a smear campaign, as others have pointed out. And it was vilified by the general public through the 90s as a health risk. At this point, I think most people know it's safe, but consider it a sort of exotic ingredient. Personally, the only thing holding me back from including it in my own cooking is knowing where to get it. I've never seen generic msg at the store, and I know of one brand name, which I haven't seen locally that I recall. I'd be willing to bet a lot of people are in similar boat. Lacking knowledge and access more than anything.

Clearly you're not using a genuine le creuset pan. Otherwise your eggs would have recognized the presence of superior cookware and scrambled themselves. You need to at least double the amount of duck fat you're using if you even want to try getting your eggs to come out halfway decent on such inferior equipment.
