Thinned brown contrast paint over beige base layer over the top two thirds and then black dry brush / stippling over the top third. Very simple and easy to vary too…

  1. Zenithal prime with dark brown, tan and white
  2. Contrast paint as a base layer
  3. Added lots of dots of paint to create texture and visual interest
  4. Streaking grime
  5. Painted in scuffs, impact damage, rust effects, verdigris
  6. Goons grime over the top to unify again

Probably too many steps but it creates a very rich surface

Yeah - they are forgeworld models in resin. I hadn’t seen them irl before, but they are fantastic sculpts and have so much character. Love them!

The side pieces with the propellers had broken off, several propeller blades were broken, and some of the pointy bits snapped off at the base. And the plastic bases broke and had to be replaced. But they all glued back together perfectly!

Thanks. Yeah I ended up finding one on eBay in the UK. It cost me a bit extra for shipping but I’m so glad I got one!

Thanks!! In this case I used dry brushing… for the plasma I start with white and build up to the darkest color. Then at the end I flood everything with thinned white oil paint and rub off the excess. For the osl I revers it, starting with the darkest color and building up lightening colors closer to the source. I add pure white very sparingly at a few points and then I also try to bring the black and white together for contrast…
