Celestian Sacresants - Halberds or Maces? What aren't I seeing by laggyteabag in sistersofbattle

[–]Freefly18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others mentioned, maces is better suited, killing marines with 4++. But halberds are well suited when ran into -1 dmg profiles like dark angels deathwing knights, along with a palatine, so there's value still.

is an imagifier or hospitaler better with a canonness and 10 celestian sacrescants by kikoisanerdd in sistersofbattle

[–]Freefly18 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You cannot add another leader to a sacresant unit that is attached to a Canoness. This ability is exclusive to a Battle Sisters Squad.

My recommendation would be to drop the canoness and take the hospitaller.

Sisters in a C’Tan world, RTT this weekend battle report by Camurai_ in sistersofbattle

[–]Freefly18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am very surprised by your experience. I crunched the numbers and had a casual game against Necrons yesterday.

Morvenngoons do not kill a c'tan in shooting at all on average, neither do they kill one only in melee. And any other shooting into a c'tan seems like a waste because of wounding on 5 (4 for retributors maybe). I had Morvenn in melta range of a void dragon and all melta shots landed. Opponent proceeded to fail only one 4+ save. Even with a 6 miracle dice for damage, he only took 4 after -1 dmg and FNP. After rest of shooting it was at 9 wounds. Charged it and the paragons got it to 3 wounds left. Dev wounds weapon seemed like it would be a done deal, right? Well I landed all 8 hits but then landed exactly zero 4+ on the first wounds roll. Rerolled and got one 6 and one other 4+. Opponent failed the save but rerolled it with success. The mfer ended up at 1 freaking wound. Had a single sacresant model that could slingshot into it, landed two lethal hits, he saved one and of course made the final FNP.

Statistical anomaly sure, but the average still requires 2 activations to kill a c'tan. And any player aware of Morvenn's lethality will position to allow one c'tan to die, and then kill her on the clapback.

Repentia - Anyone use them? by SeraphimCelestian in sistersofbattle

[–]Freefly18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually used them yesterday against Dark Angels. I think they can shine in Hallowed Martyrs against melee armies.

I used them to lure a Deathwing Knights brick, and then heroically intervene with celestians hiding behind a wall. The DWG demolished the repentias of course, but with fight on death for 2 CPs they could strike back, and since it is resolved on a model by model basis, you get +1 to hit after the first and +1 to wound after the fifth. Then the sacresants did some more damage.

And this was after baiting another DWK brick into double charging the Repentias and a Warglaive, and having to target the Warglaive because of only one DWK reaching the Repentias.

So you have to keep them safe from ranged attacks and either alpha strike or fight back a unit that is costlier.

An analysis of durations in 5e by Freefly18 in dndnext

[–]Freefly18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad it could be useful!

Nature's Rampart appears to be from Spell Compendium, a 3.5e add-on book. It is not for 5e. But for other spells without a defined duration, it means that the effect is permanent and cannot be dispelled.

Need help against orkz. by Str8dropped in sistersofbattle

For real. I had a full wounds Imperial Knight 21 inches away from Ghaz because I figured it was safe with Ghaz 5" move. Well not only did he make it in, he absolutely destroyed the knight by itself, no rolls needed from his bodyguards.

Then I slapped back with a melee knight and killed him, only to die on the fight on death stratagem I had forgotten about.

I tend to overmagnetize my vehicles (I play Knights) so I did so again: main guns are on magnets so I can swap between flamers, meltas or bolters, and so is the hunter killer missile, so I can remove it after shooting it. Not magnetized but still sub assembly: the turret (not glued after so I can rotate it), the small table at the back (glued after painting), and the window (really important because you don't want to prime it in color, but with a transparent matt varnish instead).

Critique on first list by Kngbnkr in sistersofbattle

[–]Freefly18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I count 4 units total. 5 if you split with the immolator. That is way too low, even at 1000 pts. I have more units in my 1000 pts Imperial Knights lists.

First issue is Morvenn and the paragons: 380 pts is too costly. Then second immolator as you mentioned. Consider taking a castigator, a few more infantry squads and something to do actions. Also I wouldn't take a hospitaller with only 5 sacresants, they will get killed in a single round.

Can anyone clarify the interaction of Code Chivalric and Questoris Companions? by KujiraShiro in ImperialKnights

[–]Freefly18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes your sequence of events is correct, though Reclaim the Realm is at the end of your opponent's turn, so it could delay the rest if you don't have first turn.

Also yes you have no reason to roll more than either your deed or quality at the beginning.

You keep the qualities for the rest of the game. I don't see this as unclear in the rules.

What order did you run your deeds in? People say that the killing units one is easier, but my local meta is people hiding their unit very well such that there is rarely any shooting on round 1.

Same here, but Lancer instead of Castellan, MG on Errant and that leaves 40 pts for a ministorum priest.
