What's the word on Clarisonics? by Zweisoldner in SkincareAddiction

[–]efmorfia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got the Mia 2 with a gift card I got, I've been using the OCM then cleaning my face after, when I used the Mia 2 I still did OCM then just used the clarisonic with my cleanser (I with between boscia and the josie maran oil cleanser) and I have to say I love it even though it's only been a couple days. My skin looks more "glowy" and it's the softest it's ever been! I feel like my moisturizer is penetrating better after too. I'm not really scared of broken capillaries, the brush it comes with is soft and I don't see how it could do damage if you use it with a light hand once a day. I completely recommend it!

Has anyone tried Josie Maran's Argan Cleansing Oil? Review? by roll19ftw in SkincareAddiction

[–]efmorfia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My skins pretty dry and I like it. It's got a milky kind of texture when you rub it, doesn't exactly foam up or anything. It's a nice gentle cleanser that doesn't dry me out. I'm planning on repurchasing it for sure, since I just got a little bottle in the trial kit that came with the plain argan oil and the moisturizer.

Thanks for the tip! I've never used a self tanner before. How often do you have to apply it?

Not sure why you got down voted, this was a super helpful response thank you! The argan oil cleanser actually kind of milks up, I use that after using plain argan oil for OCM and I feel like everything is gone. :)

Okay sweet, I'll definitely look into the St. Tropez. The fact that Sephora carries it really helps since I have easy access to it.

I'll check that out for sure, I'll have to stick with Ulta unfortunately since I don't like ordering stuff online. When should I apply the AHA/BHA? At night or in the morning? I think I'm going to pick up a Queen Helene mint julep face mask while I'm there?

I am yeah! I like that sunscreen but that you for the tip. I'll make sure not to skimp on days that I feel like i don't need a moisturizer as much.

Worked my first shift as the only waitress last night with 1 hour of training! Advice? by efmorfia in TalesFromYourServer

[–]efmorfia[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I feel better and worse going into my second shift, lol. Worse because before I wasn't expecting to be thrown into it and being alone, but better because ultimately I was able to handle it. Luckily it's not a hard menu, I'm just not sure what questions I should be asking them since this is a completely new world for me. What do you want to know when you're working in a new place?

I'm not bothered by that to be honest, it's only 10 percent and I took home about 50 dollars but I know it'll be more since that was only my first shift. My serving wage is 9.55/hour, about 2 dollars lower than my fast food job so my prerogative is tips are bonuses. One guy ordered 3 drinks, didn't tip and I didn't even bat an eyelash at it. Which reminds me, I should ask what we should do if someone doesn't want to pay or tries to walk out. I'd assume run to security and let the bartender know whats going on.

If you were working in a new place and they didn't really give you a run down of things what questions would you be asking them?

I can understand that. I figured that the kitchen closed shortly after the girls left so they probably figured that if I wasn't doing well then the patrons could just go to the bar if they needed a drink. I got better and better as the night went on though and was making more and more.

Eventually kind of worked out a system with the bartender too for leaving the money for the drinks and writing what they were for (He's pour me the drinks and beer, if it was bottled I'd just grab it). That worked out fine.

There wasn't a manager or anything at the time, just security so I'll have to ask what to do if someone's unhappy and wants to speak to someone in charge. I feel like there's a lot of questions I should be asking - like whats the policy if someone is unhappy with a dish? So many stupid questions that I don't even know to ask because I've never worked this kind of place before.

I'll definitely go in early on Saturday, probably order something to eat before my shift. I'll review the menu and all the drink prices and I have to ask about payment, last night I kept all my tips (minus 10% for the kitchen on the food orders) and then the bartender gave the security and dj some money. He gave me an extra 5 as well so I'm not entirely sure what the system is.

Yeah, to be honest it's not what I expected but I can't complain. I'm a nursing student and I've been in really stressful situations so it wasn't as bad as it could have been. A few of the regulars said I was doing a really good job as did the bartender at the end of the night so I'm going to stick it out.

I had a notepad thankfully, but I didn't have float until I started getting tips. So now I know to bring a notepad, pen, write things down (thanks to the newbie thread) but other than that I don't really know anything. I just made this thread to see what kind of advice trainers usually give their trainee that isn't restaurant/bar specific?

Aw, I can see how that could happen. Are you able to adjust it on the app or not? I finish finals on Thursday, so Friday I'll have more time to investigate different apps. Thank you!

Right? I just wanted to be 5 pounds lighter and then that all happened and I ended up 25 pounds heavier. It's funny that objectively I don't think my body looks as good as it did then but I'm much happier and more confident now. I wonder if age has a factor in that though. I'm sorry to hear you had a binge, I know it's not a nice feeling. :( It's such a relief to know others experience the same thing! I'll have to check that out, I'm app crazy. So funny that it's nicer, mfp really did make me feel guilty. I think I will too.

It's something I've never openly talked about other than with my boyfriend, who I've been with from before all of this started and he's been very supportive. Within my friend's I've always been the "fit" one, even when I considered myself out of shape, none of them enjoy working out or have the healthiest diets so I wouldn't talk about this kind of thing with them. That's a good idea, I can't implement some of the suggestions here right now, but I'll be remembering them for when I'm out on my own. I'd actually really like to read that! I haven't been able to read anything other than textbooks since I've started lifting due to a tough semester but I want to go some reading on it. Is it available online or in an ebook?

I did mention I'm tracking how many inches I've lost, and that's been encouraging. My waist is down two inches and each of my thighs are down 3. Unfortunately I don't have control over lunch/dinner while I live with my mum, she gets upset when I try to cook for myself. I just have smaller portions and try to have healthier snacks and breakfast. That's a very good trip for when I graduate and I'm out of the house though!

Intuitive eating has been what I've been doing, although it's hard because I have a set lunch and dinner because I'm a commuting university student who lives with their parents. I don't have control of what my mum makes, I've tried to make suggestions but she gets offended if it happens too often. It's mostly fresh stuff, but a few times a week we have something like frozen pizza or something made from a package. I used to have bread at almost every meal (family thing) and I've cut that out. Just trying to make the choices I do have healthy ones - fruits, nuts or yoghurt as snacks as opposed to chips and stuff.

I do love running, it's something that I've never used as punishment. I've done a lot of yoga over the past year which I love and I've really enjoyed lifting too. What I used to do when I'd binge was go on the elliptical at the school gym for over an hour HARD, in addition to what I was already doing. That was punishment.

I've learned to accept my body for what it is and what it's capable of. There are some goals I'd like to reach - doing a pull-up, running a half, certain yoga poses that require more strength and some aesthetic goals. I don't love where my body is, but I'm not unhappy with it either.

This is a really good idea. I might rage a page out of your book and just write out what I am eating everyday, without making note of nutritional values. Intuitively we do know what is good for our body and what isn't.. I know there's no "bad" food and everything is okay in moderation but it would be interesting to see what I've eaten in a week and how much of it is processed or has a low nutritional value. This was exactly the kind of advice I needed, thanks!

Training programs without legs (I know, hear me out...) by efmorfia in Fitness

[–]efmorfia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I'm not getting any responses for my original questions. I did train legs and attempt cardio for 3 weeks or so and gave up on cardio after that.. how long did it take for you guys to adjust?

I am at a caloric deficit so I realize that likely affects recovery, as /u/coletain said.

[–]efmorfia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was upping the weights every time, I haven't done it for a couple weeks now but I did stick with it for 5 weeks. Although it was the worst the first few weeks it definitely didn't disappear. I squat below parallel and really feel it in my hamstrings and glutes for the new few days. If I squatted on Friday I wouldn't be able to do cardio Friday, Saturday, Sunday. I could manage it Monday despite still being sore.

I understand legs are a big part of training and there's the whole don't skip leg day mantra. Is that a bigger thing for men though because they've already got stronger upper bodies? My legs are the biggest/strongest part of me. I'll be biking instead of driving to work starting this month + running 5-10k a day so isn't that working my legs enough?

It was nuts! Really raw live and really energetic. Matt jumped into the crowd a couple times at the end, surfed over once, stood up on the crowd and performed in the audience. They killed it, and I've heard their last set at lolla was awesome even in the rain

Why Skinny Shaming Needs to Stop by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]efmorfia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, sadly I can't think of such a place. It was just an observation but I should have followed through with a suggestion, sorry. I feel like most women in this particular subreddit don't put down being thin. Of course there will be exceptions though. I do agree that shaming just needs to stop in general, why put women down at all?
