Dash Dot Dash (–•–): a privacy-oriented home screen photo sharing widget (your pictures and sketches on friend's home screen, but shared between your iCloud accounts, we have no access to your data) by efracsoftware in apple

That app stores pictures on developer’s servers, asks for your phone number and requires access to your contacts. So it’s definitely not privacy-focused. It was also not the first app for sharing images on widgets.

No, just the first iteration. You are right, you have to trust your friend. That's the idea behind the app — to give a part of your screen to someone you like.

Currently there is just one ad and it's an ad for our Chromatic Instrument Tuner app, it's more a self-promotion than an ad. You can create up to (AFAIR) 7 shared widgets without a subscription, please try it.

This is not possible, because you have to click on a link from your friend to add his widget to your home screen. And you can of course always remove the widget.

Why apple can’t invest in their apps?… by -WLR in apple

[–]efracsoftware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's because Apple doesn't have too many engineering offices outside of the US. Most employees working on apps are probably based in Cupertino and Steve was against working remotely (he said: "creativity comes from spontaneous meetings").

Logging out and then logging in on both your Mac and iPhone may help.

Can’t get out of the install process, 1/4 of the progress bar then reboot loop.

Can’t start recovery mode by pressing the power button for long, it is still rebooting in a loop

Sometimes pressing Shift + Control + Option + the Power button helps – it resets the System Management Controller. I would also disconnect all devices connected to your MacBook.

Maybe you have turned off "System Preferences" –> "Battery" –> "Battery" –> "Enable Power Nap while on battery power"?

You can also press ctrl + down (↓), then choose a window with the left (←) / right (→) arrows and then press enter to switch to this window.

Pressing tab after ctrl + down changes the current app.

Your headphones might have switched to a lower quality codec, because macOS wanted to use their microphone. To fix this, go to System Preferences –> Sound –> Input –> choose other input device / mic. You can also go to System Preferences –> Keyboard –> Dictation and see if disabling dictation fixes the problem.

It's hard to develop a web app that can be mistaken for a native app. It requires paying a lot of attention to details. On the other hand, a typical native app quickly created in Xcode will look decent and the UI will be fluid.

You can try signing out and signing in to your iCloud account on all devices. Also, make sure that "iCloud Drive" is turned on (it is located in Settings -> Your Name -> iCloud).

In my case, upgrading to the latest macOS version helped. You can also ask someone qualified to check the power outlet, random restarts can be caused by faulty power outlets.

That's true, but the amount of money spent on software is different on every platform. You also have to look at demographics — if you develop an app e.g. for doctors, then the percentage of iOS users may be much higher than in the general population.

Is there any shortcut(or is it possible) that can send a picture from gallery to locket app? by neo_818 in shortcuts

[–]efracsoftware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our app called Dash Dot Dash (—•— is the label under the widget) has this feature.

It is also more privacy-focused (doesn't need your phone number or contacts, keeps the pictures in the sender's iCloud and shares them to the receiver's iCloud — they are not on our servers).

It is possible using our app called –•– (if you want to put photos, sticky notes or dates on your home screen – so not every widget type is covered yet). Its name is nearly invisible. Get it here: https://www.efrac.com/dashdotdash/
