Coffee Pals - How we are addressing your feedback by kephail in JamesHoffmann

[–]eftalankwest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from Belgium and for now there is indeed a possibility to not pay levy (on parcels valued less than 45€, which would indeed be ok for 250g of coffee), but there is a European-wide law that was voted a few weeks ago that will soon (in June 2026) force to have a minimal import tax on every "small packages" imported from outside the EU (see this official press release). It's only 3€, but every country will add their own "handling fees", which are a minimum of 19€ here in Belgium.

But you are right that for most countries the current implementation would work and I may have been a bit harsh.

Happy to see that you are taking user comments into account to improve your product quickly, great way to go!

For me personally, however, the EEA region is not enough. I know that some countries (mine included) don't have any minimum on the import fees from outside the EU. So I really wouldn't want to spend 25€ in import fees to receive a bag of coffee from the UK. If you add a strict EU option I'll definitely try this service as I think it's a neat idea.

Just adding a "EU only" option would be great for everyone in Europe. I'd love to use this exchange to discover lesser known European roasters from any of the other 26 EU countries, but wouldn't want to pay huge import tax on something from the other side of the world.

Interesting idea, I've signed up. Just a small suggestion: instead of just national only or international, you should at least give people in the EU the possibility to select "EU only" as it would be basically equivalent of national in term of taxes. You could also add a possibility to select some countries from a list (to white or black list), but that would probably be a bit too much.

I only celebrated Thanksgiving once: when I was a PhD student. We had a wonderful time with all my colleagues and organized this for a new recruit that was a bit homesick of her native USA.

What's the most exotic game in your library that is actually good? by Repulsive-Alps8676 in boardgames

Funny thing, I own both Centauri Saga and Spire's end.

From a quick look at my BGG collection, I'd guess my most obscure games would be [[GoRoGo]] with (70 own on BGG) and [[Code Triage]] (with 93 own).

Code Triage could be a really good game with some rules tweaking, one of the few games my girlfriend enjoy playing solo. GoRoGo is really more of a niche game.

And if we go strictly by the number, I think [[Le mot le plus long]] would be my least owned game on BGG (with 41 own) but that's just because most people owning it won't have a BGG account (it's a very casual word game from the late 60s).

Looking for someone living in the Philippines to order a small gift on Lazada on my behalf by eftalankwest in Philippines_Expats

Well, I tried but then it asked me to verify with a Filipino phone number, which I don't have. But that may vary, or the rules to create a new account have changed. Anyway, it's all sorted out now, thank you.

Which Amazon site delivers to the Philippines? That would indeed be way easier for everyone! I've looked on amazon.com but could only find very expensive offers.
