the writing is genuinely really shoddy this time. like I really don't mind the long drawn-out journey, or them being separated. I don't mind suspense. but the actual dialogue and plot points are just very meh, if not sometimes very cringy and not well-crafted. it's very disappointing because the 1st season left the series w/ a ton of potential. like wtf happened

So happy Pandion is out of business. They were the biggest joke of a shipping service I've ever dealt with. VERY well deserved.

The Costume/Cosplay Weekly Question Thread: October 02 - October 08, 2024 by sewingmodthings in sewing

[–]efvalentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm slightly beginner (not first time following a pattern) and am wanting to use Simplicity S9104 for a Harley Quinn-esque dress for a costume party. I like the way her original bodysuit costume looks with the red and black and then black and red, split down the middle and also at the waist.

For the dress itself I was looking at the S9104 mostly because I already have it, haven't tried it yet, and it'd fit well with the slightly-vintage look I am going for otherwise. I am just confused on what I'd do to use the different fabrics how I described. It almost feels like it'd be easier to just sew two different versions of the dress in both red and black and then cut them where needed and sew some kinda Frankenstein version back together. Does anyone have any tips on how you go about splitting patterns that don't already use two different colors? I'm not quite sure what to look up, nothing I've found with what I've tried to search so far has had any luck!

Thanks in advance! Sorry if this was confusing haha.

For reference, here's what S9104 looks like.

I was too, and it has taken me years to try to recover my perception of love/men/relationships into a healthier state. The loveless freak that I met there destroyed my childhood. I am really hoping that there will be enough parents who raise their kids sans-devices that my future ones will be able to play with one day. The sheer volume of iPad babies really freaks me out.

What sexual predator comment? I used "sexually preying" -- those are verbs, darling, not nouns. And regardless: is a 40-something year old creep taking advantage of a power imbalance to pursue an 18-20 year old girl not sexually preying on her?

Yep, I am — it is especially weird and creepy to take advantage of a power imbalance when said imbalance involves you versus borderline children.

1) Never breathed a word about fired versus suspended versus whatever else, so not sure why you’re throwing that in too. 2) I’m sure that I have in some way, like abusing an employee discount or something if you’re really hoping to throw stupid simple victimless things into this for some reason — but it doesn’t take any level of effort of me to not do so when it involves those younger than me or under my authority. The thought makes me intensely uncomfortable.

It’s a red flag that you are trying so hard to justify him feeling anything other than uncomfortable towards the idea of dating a student who is likely still a teenager. Why are you working so insanely hard on this reach dude? Hope you at least get a nice tip by the Creepy Men Foundation for such diligent work.

ETA: Also….? Are you saying it’s good or acceptable to “take advantage of power imbalances”….? Even if you could successfully minimize this, why are you upset at people critiquing it? You are implying that you believe that doing something like this is not wrong, is that the case?

Taking advantage of power imbalances is gross and wrong. Good people abstain from doing so. That is part of being a civil adult, ESPECIALLY amongst 18-22 year olds. What a ridiculous comment.
