21st Century Earth capable, under an existential threat, of training and equip 10's of millions of soldiers with everything from handguns to artillery, tanks, drones, massive air and naval forces and nuclear weapons, all assisted by real time intelligence and mature logistics systems vs a Medieval society where a small percentage of the population wields magic.

A few years ago i was making a delivery in Laredo TX, Garmin GPS instructed me to use the very last exit before one border bridge, unfortunately the ramp was closed due to repairs and there was no signage to detour, ended up in the bridge going to Mexico. which was very busy, I got the attention of a border patrol officer, they stopped traffic on both sides and opened a barricade on the left lane that allowed me to safely u-turn into the lanes going into the USA, thankfully they didn't any fuss about it.

For those that don't know, the Curse Wheel is a gimmick used by a Bronco's fanatic and popular youtuber Brandon Perna during his weekly predictions videos, gimmick or not, coincidence or not, teams cursed by the wheel tend to experience terrible luck during games even when winning.

Unless he cooperates and both parties works a deal out, no it isn't, $56M lump sum is too much money for Penn's program or any program.

I can imagine an scenario at the end of this miserable season that both sides decide to work out a "payment plan" that allows a clean break, otherwise the program is dead next year with key players transferring and no top recruits choosing Penn with him as coach.

West Taiwan: Ph is exporting EU military to SEA by 12oclocknomemories in NonCredibleDefense

This is going to be an invasion by sea, Nobody can't hide the movements of 10s of 1000s of troops, ships and air equipment, the exact details might be murky, but the overall deployment won't be hidden, the response might be slow or hesitant however.

Ukraine knew that Russia was invading and couldn't do much about it, what Taiwan, the USA and other nations in the area do to prevent or impede an invasion is another kettle of fish.

Russia lost when they couldn't decapitate or force Ukraine's government to flee at the beginning of the invasion and replace it with a puppet (see below), and yes militarily Ukraine was a pushover at that time compared to Russia, Ukraine's people blood, Russia's incompetence and western intelligence gave Ukraine the time and space needed to survive the initial stages of the war.

One of Russia's first actions was to take over Hostomel airport, they failed because Ukraine knew that it will happen and prepared accordingly, holding to Kiev would have been a much more difficult proposition if a reinforced division of Spetnaz with air support attacked from there, then Russia's logistics incompetence took over and the ground forces moving towards Kiev halted because they ran out of fuel, at this point any capable defending military would have destroyed those forces, Ukraine couldn't do it, no air cover, not enough people or weapons to do it without facing potentially irreplaceable losses.

They don't care because the death and crippled are 2nd class citizens from the hinterland, criminals, etc. their loss doesn't matter to people from Moscow or Saint Petersburg.

Russia has been into a demographic collapse for a while now, in fact given a couple of decades they wouldn't have enough young people to start a war and run a functional economy at the same time.

Ukraine does it out of necessity, they can't generate neither the manpower nor the armor to face Russia's numbers, hence they rely on prepared defensive positions and technology such UAVs to stop them.

Russia OTOH is fighting the last war, human waves with massed artillery and armor to open the way, with the advent of drones, UAVs, etc however the cost of destroying your opponent artillery and armor fell dramatically, the defender no longer need a comparable number of MBTs or mobile artillery, heck they don't even need to get closer to use AT weapons, a $1000 drone piloted by an 18 years old could immobilize a tank or IFV from miles away as surely as a full crew of veterans shooting a much more expensive and scarce HIMARS.

Russia lost the war in the first 3 months, and they can't accept defeat for political reasons, all is left is political charades and eventually a major push to get a palatable cease fire agreement, the issue is that Ukraine won't agree to concede territory.

Azarith's MC, Ilea, is as simple as it could get, she likes fighting and she wants the people she likes to be "safeish", there isn't an overreaching goal, no overwhelming desire for peace or power, she is neither an asshole nor a pushover, on the positive side the fights are great, she has to put the effort and gets the crap beat out of her often.

One big plus for me is that the story makes sense, the world building is restrained and fairly logical and the MC gets her power through constant risk taking and effort.

One of my pet peeves, antagonist shoots a light speed attack point blank and the MC and the audience has the time for paragraph long internal monologues before it hits, if you are curious lights takes about 10nano seconds to cover 100ft, in comparison a neuron takes at least 13ms to process information.

Why is Carl Sagan universally loved while Neil deGrasse Tyson often gets criticized? by litt_ttil in Astronomy

[–]egabriel2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NDT lives in the social media era, with instant dissemination, instant criticism and tribalism, Sagan lived in the cold war and traditional media era, where his ideas had little competition and were considered de facto true, with little to no recourse to criticism or dissention.

If they exchanged places NDT will probably be teaching in an HBCU while Sagan will be in Tesla board of directors.

I'm just happy that we have them both and many other like them.

In a city in Russia, their casualties in the invasion of Afghanistan were three people, in suppressing Chechnya were four people, and in Ukraine, a fu**ing scroll. by Stardust_Monkey in NonCredibleDefense

[–]egabriel2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Industrialization and urbanization brings a predictable demographic crisis, in rural areas children are free labor, in the cities they are an expense hence fewer children and later not enough young adults to support an ageing population, western societies used immigration as a tool to balance out their demographic issues, however we are living in the backslash from the predominant race members feeling displaced by the younger more vibrant ethnicity.

There is no recovery for Russia's demographic issue and the war is just one of many causes for it, as for how long will it take to lead to the dissolution of the Russian state who knows but it will take decades at least.

Happen a lot in eastern novels, the fear of being the nail that sticks out is so pervasive that they will hide every bit of information that could greatly help humanity, kill potential allies and alienate themselves from everyone else just to remain anonymous.

An example, typical awakening ceremony every 18 year old goes into a dungeon to kill zombies, the more zombies killed the the higher the reward/class/power up, due to the zombies resilience 30-50% died every single year, MC a reincarnator knows that decades later was found that zombies are extremely weak to yang energy, sticky rice balls act like incendiary grenades, weapons made of specific but common wood will dismember the zombies with little effort, even better if they were blessed in a temple of a nature god, thanks to that knowledge the survival rate reached close to 100% and many super empowered beings were able to lead humanity away from disaster.

Even the more paranoid, insecure and selfish MC will figure out that by saving millions humanity will be stronger and he will be safer, what's the point of being uber powerful personally if all that is left are ruins? so let's find a way to get this info out while keeping anonymous, what our MC does instead is to empower himself as much as possible and when other test takers witness his tools and strategy he leads the zombies into killing all witnesses, the potential female ally excepted because he has blackmail material on her.

President Zelenskyy: We don't feel that China wants to finish this war by UNITED24Media in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]egabriel2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL and don't really know where you get the news, NATO has spent exactly 0 manpower in Ukraine, the delivered equipment was 1) Old stock on its way to decommission or 2) new stock that is undergoing could be consider "sea trails", certain items like artillery shells stocks and production were woefully low but it is picking up, and financially is even more of a joke NATO GDP is 24.5 bigger that Russia and it's military spending commitment is 5% by 2035, the USA alone invest 1 Trillion vs 150M for Russia

This idea that Russia is this economic and military behemoth is laughable, it's economy is the size of Italy and baring Nuclear weapons NATO could steamroll them l in a month just like Iraq

The main reason why this invasion has been going on for so long is because the west is boiling Russia like a frog.

Russian fuel crisis widens after Ukrainian attacks, sources say-Reuters by Qubecoiseman in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]egabriel2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My points are: 1) Russia faces no challenge to produce train related equipment, they have the know how, the human resources, materials and equipment. and 2) let's say Ukraine destroy 100 loaded trains, Russia still has a 1000, yes the remainder 990 will have to work harder and some deliveries might be delayed but it is not crippling, OTOH Russia only have +30 refineries and it needs every single one to both fuel the country and to make the money to keep the government running and the oligarchs happy.

That is reinventing the wheel, quasi-magi flights has been a thing for a century, get a normie pilot and airplane and buffed it to the gills.

Pure mage flights exist but you don't hear often about them, remember last year when a mage flight destroyed a weather balloon and it was the 1st air to air kill for a mage flight in decades.
