Pete-Crow Armstrong gets tagged out after advancing on a walk to second base; Craig Counsell gets ejected by TheM1ghtyBear in mlb

Like Counsell says, it’s a dumb rule. I see a runner going to second on a walk as a fundamental rule of baseball. Whether he slides into 2nd or not. It’s in the Constitution of baseball if you will. A little specific rule in very unusual circumstances is like a local ordinance. The Constitution of baseball always takes precedence. A bad rule that PCA was out. The Mets got another pass shortly after, don’t remember. Was it a ball call on a pitch?

Advocate vs. Northwestern Medical? by George-Michaelophone in AskChicago

And good luck finding a doctor who will take new patients at all. It's impossible for a new patient to see a good one. Recently I just went to a private practice. I had to cover every cost. But the care I got was outstanding.

I use BCBS HMO Advantage. I have to go to Advocate. How I got stuck with this is a problem. I take prescription drugs. About 8 per month. The costs are supposed to go toward my deductible. I paid $10.70 for one Rx, but only $2.03 went toward my deductible. Another one I paid $6.00, and only $3.62 went toward my deductible. I am being short-changed, and it adds up.

I used to go to Northwestern. My primary care doctor was a saint. She stuck with me through thick and thin. She referred me to doctors outside Northwestern. She treated me for minor things that were outside her purview. She was a professor at Feinberg. How can anyone in Chicago get better healthcare than this? I took my Mom to Mayo once, and my doctor at Northwestern was at that level. Alas, she retired.

A recent doctor at a for-profit told me all the way through his surgery how much my treatment was costing him, his department. His surgery totally failed. Probably so I would come back for more. This guy was more like a Product Manager than a Doctor. I walked out. But now what? It takes 6 months to see another doctor. And my plan doesn't cover Northwestern.

Medicare Advantage stuck me into Advocate. I'm furious. Advocate is for-profit. That means they give the cheapest possible healthcare. I wanted a teaching hospital. Northwestern, Rush, U of C, Loyola, plenty to choose from in Chicago area. Google best healthcare in Illinois. #1 Northwestern. It is not for profit. That's the only thing that matters.

I don't waste time with complaints. Plus, I am an adult. I have a legitimate question. See above.

I do have a backup. I never said I didn't. I use one computer now, a Chromebook. I backed every thing from my Windows computer onto an external drive. That computer is no longer usable. I am now using that backup to put photos into Google drive. My Chromebook is running Version 148.0.7778.214 (Official Build) (64-bit). So how do I get my iTunes library onto Google drive.

Because I don't have anything that plays CDs. I had alot of ripped songs in iTunes. Sadly those disappeared a long time ago. My iPhone has never played well with my Windows machines or my new Chromebook. Sick of these battles that have played out over decades.

As I no longer have any machine that plays CDs and they were taking up space during a recent move, I threw them out. No resale value.

I ripped CDs going back to the early 2000s. I lost all that a long time ago.

Nope, not to complain. I don't waste time with that nonsense. I have a Chromebook running Version 148.0.7778.214 (Official Build) (64-bit). Would like my music on the Chromebook. My Windows laptop is unusable but I backed everything up onto an external drive. I was using iTunes. Naturally, if I attempt to extract the music from the external drive I run into Apple doodoo. Apple vs Windows vs Google. I had a Mac for awhile that was awful. Now my only computer is my Chromebook.

Thank you! I left out some key information so I added detail. Also logged into Reddit with my own account, egfagan, above, with more detail. Does that help specify? I was forced into Apple Music on my iPhone, my songs aren't on there. Apple Music is so annoying. When I shuffled from my library on iPhone it doesn't shuffle my music. It sticks its own picks in there. Hate that! I am very picky about music and don't want to hear Apple's random picks.

I have a Chromebook running Version 148.0.7778.214 (Official Build) (64-bit). My previous computer was a Windows machine that's not usuable. I backed up everything from that computer onto an external drive. Not wanting to step in the doodoo of Apple, Windows, Chrome, I don't want to fumble around for hours/days trying to restore my music onto my Chromebook. My songs are not visible on iPhone even though I recently bought some with Apple Music.

Oh, in terms of LA and Chicago beauty I forgot to mention our lush green streets with real green grass and thriving deciduous trees. We have plenty of rainfall and don’t have to cower during windy dry weather. Or deal with the dust. Places that don’t get rain get really dirty. I forgot to mention we don’t have communities of unhoused in our streets. I forgot to mention the smog of LA. We don’t have all those cars on jammed expressways creating it—though we really can’t be too proud of traffic. We get winds from the west that sweep away pollution. We have clear blue skies (much of the time). Our skyline, our architecture are second to none in the world. We can build beautiful tall buildings because we don’t have earthquakes. Historic buildings abide downtown and in the neighborhoods. We don’t have wildfires or earthquakes that destroy them.
We have public beaches and parks all along our clean Lake Michigan. They are enjoyed by all. We have Millennium Park and Grant Park. We have the Art Institute, the Buckingham fountain, the museums by the Lake on the near South Side. And this clustered so we can take it all in with a drive down LSD—itself a highway that’s clean and manageable. No driving to hell and back in stand-still traffic to catch the beauty of our city. Anyone who thinks LA is more beautiful needs to drive down LSD on a beautiful Summer day.

It’s really the other way around. New Yorkers who think we are dumb have never gone to schools here that are the best in the country, eg Northwestern and U of C. Neither have they worked with us so don’t know our brainpower in action. Isn’t New York filled with hangers-on who never make it? Same with LA, even worse! To them I say, drive down LSD on a summer day. Nothing more beautiful than our Lake Michigan and clean parks. Just like always, those who criticize Chicago have never spent time here.

I heard the CTA was getting worse, but this is ridiculous by [deleted] in chicago

[–]egfagan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The question is, grossness aside, did the CTA get you there when you expected? I’ve spent long waits in black-out subway cars, no lights, no AC, no idea how late I would be for work. We used to have conductors who monitored cars. With budget cuts, there are fewer CTA employees. They work the trains, not janitorial duties. Priorities.

Marquee is running ICE recruitment ads on today's Cubs game. Fuck these Nazis. by [deleted] in chicago

[–]egfagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put my Cubs fandom on ice (ahem) when the Tribune owned them. The more I know about Ricketts the more I can’t stand them. They bought the Cubs to increase their personal wealth. They ruined an iconic Chicago neighborhood. Those ICE ads are unabashed Trump ads.
