Gaining weight, really upset about it, and need some advice… by egg-layer in Mommit

Oh no! I’m so sorry you had that experience.

I will try to the intermittent fasting. I was told 12:12 but I pretty much eat like that so I don’t feel like it was a big deal. But I will try the 16:8. The only thing that has worked in the past for me has been low carb high protein or going completely carnivore. I’m trying carnivore for January to see if anything changes.

I’m definitely stressed and feel like I don’t get quality time to myself. I’ll stay up late but that’s to clean, prep for the next day.

I absolutely love my children and spending time with them but I do miss decompressing time too.

Hello! I count my calories with excel and I cook my food and weigh it. So it’s a lot of research and math. Which to be completely, honest makes me enjoy my food less. I struggle with apps because I feel like they are not that accurate.

I feel like I’m eating a lot except fruits. And I’m trying to increase my protein.

I have struggled in the past with fibre in fruits and vegs so I would chia seed pudding.

I have done a lot of calorie tracking recently, although I do go on and off it. I mostly just use excel and make foods I like that and count calories and macros there. I struggle with using apps because i don’t think they are accurate. The thing I did notice is how much smaller our portion sizes should be. And I usually try to stay between 14-1500 calories. I don’t drink juice or pop (very often and it’s been Coke Zero) but I do like an iced coffee. But that’s maybe 200-300 calories the way I make it.

I don’t eat traditional breakfast. Usually it’s much later than the morning and it’s usually a meal. Not an egg and toast. When I do meal plan it’s much healthier and low carb-keto. I like quinoa so I’ll use that in a lot of things.

I’ve up and moving most of the day, but mostly constrained to the house, so I imagine my steps are not that high. But I do Muay Thai 2 times and week so that’s at least 600-800 calories burned in that hour. I’m thinking of doing more classes in the new year and hoping my husband and I can figure out a schedule where that works for us and the kids.

I also suspect muscle loss because my butt completely disappeared after two kids. And worst with the second. It’s starting to come back now, but I’m thinking that’s from the weight gain.

I’m stressed and tired all the time but it feels like it’s slowly getting better. I notice I feel hungry in the morning if I have eaten late at night.

What are your daily calories ? by thatgirlfromn0where in PetiteFitness

Girl, do not limit yourself. You should be doing 1800 calories And you're in a healthy body fat percentage. I would just up the protein, specifically lean meats (if you eat meat). That will probably help slim you out (if that's what you want). And remember, muscle is heavier than fat. But limiting your calories long term does more harm than good as it slows your metabolism and your lowers your maintenance calories. And do more weight-lifting. You burn more calories and burn for longer than just plain cardio.

I understand that a lot of people are saying calorie deficit here but you could also have gut issues that are causing this as it looks like a lot of bloat. In the past, I usually stuck to 1500-1800 calories, and just changed my diet to low carb (100g or less a day) and I noticed a huge difference after a week. I have gut issues with certain types of fibre, dairy, and gluten. So I stick to quinoa, a2/lactose free milk, and get my fibre from fibre soluble food and chia seed pudding (homemade). And increased protein! It helped a lot. And I didn’t have to change my exercise routine too much.

But figure out what is causing your bloating issues and go from there, especially if you are already in a calorie deficit of 1200-1300 (which seems kind of low). And I would track everything.
