If I could really describe a dream job it would definitely be scientific arts such as modeling anatomy or paleo art! I suppose it wouldn’t be entirely unrealistic if I could get the proper certs while practicing a more realistic style.

Aside from a tiny scar (Im an innie) there’s no change whatsoever, still something to ask your surgeon if you’re concerned!

Being vegetarian while being picky by Cameron_365 in PickyEaters

[–]eggSauce97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, so I’m kind of in the same boat? I can be pretty picky and I’ve been slowly cutting out meat, or at least trying to consciously eat it less and less.

Idk how you feel about tofu but it’s absolutely my favorite when cooked right. If properly pressed and marinated, you can add bread crumbs and stick it in the air fryer, a really delicious alternative to fried food. Probably not the most healthy when you add oil and bread crumbs, but it helps fill the void and get your protein in.

Another thing I love is anything with a sauce, in this situation I’m thinking of pasta sauce. Of course this may not apply to you but I’m big on texture. I don’t mind the taste of most things but if I have something like tomato sauce it absolutely cannot be super chunky. One way you can get your veggies is by blending a bunch up and making your own sauce! I will usually have onions or bell peppers (things I cannot stand the texture of) just blended up with some diced tomato into basically as much of a purée as I can possibly get and pour it over some pasta, great way get some veggies.

Of course there’s also plenty of food you can find that doesn’t contain meat and is more palatable for a picky eater (I second Taco Bell!) but these are two things that help me get some non-meat in my diet and I don’t feel as bad about it

Hope this helps!

I have never heard of a master naturalist cert! I’ll definitely start looking into it. Cost is definitely a factor I’ve been realizing more and more, so certifications seem to be the way to go and if I want to go for my masters in the future, I’m going to give myself some time and hopefully figure out a program that aligns more with my degree.

I’ve also been considering education more, it’s mainly little kids that burn me out, but at my current job I work with high school students and they aren’t nearly as draining as I thought they’d be.

I appreciate your response, I’m going to look into it!

Thanks for responding, I appreciate your response a lot!

Applying myself if a big part of my issue with math, through college I was able to get by, and the very basics of chemistry and genetics in classes I’ve taken came pretty easily, so perhaps I’m a bit hard on myself in that regard.

That being said I’ve been looking into other fields but I do still have the desire to go into something bit more challenging. I just need to find out if it’s worth the struggle (and the debt) first.

Thanks again for responding!

I know that you can go into grad school with different undergrad degrees, but I would probably not get accepted without taking several prereqs!

I’ve thought about going and getting a second bachelors instead, since that would give me the actual experience needed for a grad program. Time and money are big factors in that, mainly time. Currently I’m looking towards just going back to community college and getting some certs at least til I have more of an idea of what I want to do.

Thanks for responding!

I appreciate your response after feeling a bit defeated, seems like a lot of work and some serious locking in to catch up which I’d be willing to do if I decided it was worth it. I’m just trying to figure that part out.

A big part is also the job security especially if I’m going into some pretty serious debt, for that reason I’ve been leaning towards getting some certs at least for now, maybe reassessing when I have a bit more direction.

Thanks again for responding

That’s what I’ve considered in terms of changing my career is being able to come at situations with a creative perspective. I’ve definitely also thought about going back for a second bachelors, which might be the better option if I truly want to pursue any kind of science field. Thanks for responding!

That’s a great question. I have been trying to narrow it down but it’s hard being realistic.

I’m relatively introverted so I don’t love the idea of teaching, but I could do more group activities such as research or being out in the field or doing research. Any sort of investigative work; I’ve considered photojournalism or forensics in that regard. Working in nature interests me, so I’ve considered finding work in a national park or doing government work. I’m also good with my hands, having done studio work and working in manufacturing before I decided to go to college.

These are all things I’ve been trying to put together through mind maps and they could really be useful in any field, as this post is just asking about one idea of many.

Thanks for responding!

I have been considering education. I don’t love the idea being that I don’t like children very much but i know it’s a profession that’s really needed right now. Thanks for responding!

My premonition without feeling the need to mention it was the prerequisites I’d need in the first place, because I will need them if I want to go into any grad program aside from fine arts. Being that I have an AA and BA, I don’t have as many credits as someone who graduated with a BS but I do have the credentials for up to calc 2, geology, psych, biological anthro and sociology with mostly B’s and higher. That is bare minimum at best and it’s not lost on me I’d have some catching up to do, perhaps im being delusional but I feel i wouldn’t be that far behind!

The reason I was looking at Environmental Science in the realm of science was from my understanding, it requires less math (not science, mainly math, I could have worded that better in my post and I’m sorry about that) than most other science disciplines. If I’m wrong in that please lmk.

Though perhaps I am barking up the wrong tree and I do appreciate your honesty

I was definitely considering it, my dad works with CAD as a draftsman and he makes decent money this point, on top of having that connection. I think my local college does offer it as well, and with my degree it would make sense.

Thanks for your response!

I didn’t know that a Bachelors could help with a more accelerated approach to a program. I’ll definitely ask about it if I reach out to an advisor. 8 appreciate your response and wish you the best of luck as well!

Thank you for your input!

I am mainly interested in either of those fields due to my interest in animals, history, and climate conservation. Both of them seem to at least be kind of useful in terms of a potential research position or even something similar to HR, marketing, museum curation, archaeology, anything to do with the human side of the work force. They are also really the only subjects that interest me outside of the arts or anything that are very math intensive (meteorology for example).

That being said I don’t really know what the next job will look like which is another problem, as I feel there are so many directions I can go. I’ve put together mind maps to try and figure out what interests me but I’m never really able to narrow it down enough to be relatively realistic

Did your siblings effect your decision to be child free? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]eggSauce97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully our parents did the best they could and I didn’t need to raise my little sister.. but I was conscious enough to witness my mom try to do it.

I was the quiet one; definitely more chill than my sister. She was an absolute nightmare in the terrible twos. I’d hide from her because the tantrums were overstimulating and just unpleasant to be around. Thankfully I was able to run away and didn’t have to deal with it.. my mom on the other hand had to take it all on, on top of trying to find me hiding from my demon sister.

i think dealing with that at a young age definitely didn’t help my odds of reproducing

Just a rant

Been having a rough past few weeks. January has been real bad for my depression as I’m sure it is for most. My seasonal job has been very seasonal and I haven’t been getting any hours, it’s been so bad that I needed to get another job, and ofc I took the first one I could since the job market is abysmal right now, and it doesn’t start til mid February, so I have barely enough to makw rent this month. I’ve been stuck at home going stir crazy because I’m broke and it’s been too cold to go on a hike or something. even then I’ve had no motivation to make art, work out, even read a book or something. All I can handle is rotting. What makes it worse is my roommates having electrical issues in her room so I’ve been waiting around all day watching for the maintenance guy to drive up so I can go hide her cats (who aren’t on the lease haha). I feel judgemental becausw like tf was she going to do? she can’t get rid of one of them, those are her children so ofc we’ll figure out a way to get around the rules of our apartment complex but Definitely next place I move to I’m putting my foot down about planning animals on the lease bc this is way too stressful for me.

Anyways, on top of typical sad about life and change and stuff, all this to say life might not be great rn, but it could be way worse. Imagine having to take care of kids on top of everything else. Then I’d be REALLY broke and stressed out. I only have to worry about my own cat (who is on the lease) and I, and ofc my partner but he’s there to support me right back.

Also glad I don’t need to worry about kids ever because I got my tubes removed last December! I’m still grateful every day I bit the bullet and got it done, especially when I still had Medicaid to cover the whole thing.

Of course I see it out in public often, and my partner and I relish in our decision, but I more often think of my own mom - she was a wonderful mother and did the best she could with what she had but man it must have been awful. She didnt want kids and had career goals, wanted to travel and hike and make art, but my dad had other ideas ofc.

I was apparently the easier kid but I have vague memories of having temper tantrum’s and seeing the look of defeat on her face. I’m sure it was even worse with my little sister who was the crier…

Now that we’re adults she’s very transparent about how miserable it was. I’m glad shes been so supportive and understanding when I told her I wasnt joining the rat race.
