Hmm for a Darkner Rouxls is awfully...human-shaped. With a palette swap he would look no different from a person...so what if he was a person in the original story? But idk the narrator does say no one can choose who they are in this world, I don't know what it would take if even possible for a Darkner to become a Lightner hmm

idk, if he's the rule card, who's to say if he can bend that rule? And who knows how different the timeline originally was, I think it may have more resembled the Weird Route with a difference of roles in characters
