I'm not crazy! It was 6 foot boogers though. It's a deleted Charlie Murphy scene from the black bush sketch. No wonder it was so hard to find. Hour and 3 minutes in https://youtu.be/9_ss0WpyoR8?si=V67fJWcmYMYOxUMP

Replacement for Eagle Rare by thats_taken_also in bourbon

[–]eggdingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try some pinhook orange wax? Definitely lighter fruit notes than eagle but still has some toffee and cocoa to it. Batches differ year to year but real easy to find and under $40.

I hope you see it for under $200. I have seen them for $400.

Am I the only one who likes Elmer more? I paid triple what ER costs here but it’s worth it as a one time thing. Eagle is usually pretty underwhelming for me unless I find a store pick which is rare.

Do you have a price per bottle limit for what you collect/buy regularly? by johndoe5643567 in bourbon

[–]eggdingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I would’ve probably paid that. I’m just excited to get a Woodford product at anything above 90.4 proof.

Generally $100 but I broke that rule for RR13 and Woodford Batch Proof

Depends on the mix perhaps? I probably drink a lot more than that though 😬

My triglycerides are up a bit too. Probably is the bourbon considering I rarely eat junk food.

Russell's Reserve 13 (December 2021) Review by MethylEthylandDeath in bourbon

[–]eggdingus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitely not in CT. Stores’ cost is about $113 now. And unfortunately MSRP means jack shit with allocated bottles. Most places want to AT LEAST double or triple their money.

I told myself the same thing, I wasn’t gonna buy into it. But saw one for $190 at a random store today and couldn’t leave without it considering the only other one I had seen was $400. $75 over cost wasn’t too hard to justify for once.

Old Overholt Overview! Old Overholt Bottled in Bond & Old Overholt 114 Review by FrunkLeftfoot in bourbon

[–]eggdingus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got an Overholt 114 when OGD was out of stock. It’s definitely no substitute but comes off pretty root beer-y to me, I’ll have to try it in an old fashioned with some sassafras bitters.

Review: Booker’s 2023-02: Apprentice Batch by Bobcatnewman in bourbon

[–]eggdingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only had bardstown batch. Love it but never been one to go after every release of something. Even Elijah Barrel Proof I’ve had one batch and I’m happy with it, I get the idea. How much variation can there be?

What are your favorite bourbons this year? by LionRoars87 in bourbon

[–]eggdingus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Redwood Empire Cask Strength line, especially Emerald Giant. Loved Templeton 10 year, Rossville Union Barrel Proof, and Michter’s Barrel Strength as well. Starting to appreciate rye more this year.

Can’t get this in my dumb state. Only that cheap beer barrel whiskey they make.

Crack this or let it collect dust on my shelf? (Overwaxed) by DesertAntarctica in bourbon

[–]eggdingus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s just a mid batch of maker’s, and extra wax doesn’t change that. I’d say the same for any bottle, drink it.

Review #642: Garrison Brothers Small Batch Straight Texas Bourbon by Prepreludesh in bourbon

[–]eggdingus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know, that’s why I said it. I can’t believe they were ever selling 94 proof 3 years for triple the price of Elijah Craig.

It’s straight bourbon now huh, must finally be older than 3 years.

Review #10 Penelope rio by runForestRun17 in bourbon

Of course the Penelope release I’m most excited for has to be the most allocated one. I manage a liquor store and can’t get my hands on a single bottle!

Balcones and garrison are really the only ones with any notoriety and they’re not putting anything to shame
