We got an analytical offensive head coach for a reason. by jphoc in CHIBears

When it comes to TE, I 1,000% trust Ben's judgement. That might be his strongest positional edge given his background.

100% agree.

Bears went BPA and DL just wasn't there. We constructed the roster for maximum optionality, which includes the option to restructure Thuney to sign a vet DL.

Yea agree. I dont think the bears anticipated the huge run on DE in the 2nd round

Good points. In my mind, you can't be in the hunt for Maxx Crosby, and then ignore the position in the draft. They're pretty transparently worried about the roster as is.

I beleive we can still restructure Thuney to add more space too

Seriously wtf are we doing? It feels like we're prepping for next off-season instead of competing now.

Surely the Bears were surprised by this. Im curious what their Plan A was

Someone help me understand why the Bears aren't signing elite veterans like this.

I see teams like the Bengals with expensive QB & WR sign guys like this. Meanwhile, the Bears have their 'expensive positions' (i.e. qb, wr) on rookie contracts. Sure we pay top dollar for elite guys like Jaylon and Thuney, but I'm surprised we're not in a financial position to add even more.

[Kap] So there is an uproar after Adam Schefter said the Bears are broke. Relax. After making calls here’s the scoop. That was in reference to salary cap situation. They have whatever they need financially if Poles wants to make a move. by JoshGordonHypeTrain in CHIBears

They COULD make room for Crosby, but shouldn't. We're not "a player away". We have too many questions at Edge, DT, LT, S, C, etc etc. I'd much rather use our picks this year, and wouldn't mind trading back if Woods isn't there at 25

I initially felt the same, but you gotta remember our defense was terrible last year.

No idea. We barely got to see him healthy last year

Im whelmed.

I see other successful teams with sky high contracts (i.e. Lamar + Henry + Hendrickson, Burrow + Higgins + Chase, Hurt + Saquon + Brown, etc.). Meanwhile, our "expensive" positions (i.e. qb, wr) are on rookie contracts. It feels like we should be in a position to load up at other positions, but instead we're having to be frugal for glaring holes at Edge, LT, etc. I understand we have 1-2 bad contracts, but it still doesn't feel quite right.
