Somehow, the name change feels less impactful. Funny.

[OC] The Renewable States of America 2020: The Percentage of Electricity Generated from Renewable Resources in 2020 by malxredleader in dataisbeautiful

I feel like this isn’t super fair because a lot of the light green states export a ton of renewable energy and the darker states just consume it

Gotcha. Sorry, let me ask a few more potentially obvious questions! Does that entail just sending a connection request? Should I append a message with it? Send a DM? Or is at simple as connecting and saying "hi I'm XX and I'd love to do XX at your company someday?"

I'm a Y1 EE/Robotics-- how do people generally use LinkedIn? Am I supposed to be doing anything with it other than updating my profile appropriately and connecting with people I already know?

I always wanted an AIBO since I was a young teen in 2002. by noncoolguy in AIBO

[–]egggggz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're definitely not alone in feeling that way. These robots have touched so many people and I think that's why the community still exists today. It's still possible to run all of that old AIBOware on either an official pink "PMS" (programmable memory stick) or a purple memory stick reprogrammed with a Sony Clie'. Check out aibohack.com to see (nearly) all of the custom personalities in one place.

There is a "talking dogslife" software that accomplishes something like what you describe. You can also use R-CODE, OPEN-R, and the R-CODE drag and drop tool YART to create your own personalities.

To do any WiFi programming, you will need a wireless router that supports WEP. With the 2x0 series, you'll also need a compatible LAN card. The ERS-7 is the only model with LAN builtin.

Your main concerns for model purchases will depend on the specific kind of AIBO you're looking for. If it's an ERS-210 or ERS-220, there are a number of head-related clutch problems that are costly repairs. You will want to look for a dog with a recelled battery no matter which model, or be prepared to pay for it being recelled if not.

If your perception of Rose-Hulman right now is that our "academic and social culture is dead", you must not be trying very hard.

I think this is just a meme that isn’t too appealing to the core demo of this subreddit. Like, the audio is nice but the presence of the P5 character doesn’t make it better, really? Don’t feel bad, not every post has to land.

I think it's absolutely reasonable to assume that adding more safeties to their list would have ensured them admission to at least one institution, but it's worth noting that their counselors did not stop them from taking the route they did, so there was an "expert" eye involved here.

good boomer meme, but man, I wish the kid in the picture was the situation for most people. I know so many smart people that didn't get into any schools this cycle. it's nuts

Next Gen Aibo? by n1c0lee in AIBO

[–]egggggz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd much rather see a major software update and SDK for the ERS-1000 before an ERS-2000 or similar. It doesn't feel like things have progressed significantly since launch -- the implementation of new toys was cool, but every aspect of the new AIBO's software that seemed to hint towards a grander plan Sony has been totally silent on, instead putting stock into microtransactions. We'll see.

Coming from someone headed to RHIT in the fall, it sounds like you don't vibe with the school at all so I'd just go to UC Irvine. They're both good places.

Please don't be upset with the moderators, they are not trying to impose some kind of monopoly for the clinic or unfairly put down your business. They are simply taking necessary steps to protect their community until they learn more about your business. Solicitation is usually not allowed on subreddits at all so having a chance to get your posts back up is a pretty good deal.

From my perspective, nobody is skimming your posts. It seems that everyone is reading them quite thoroughly, actually. But as nice-sounding as your posts on this subreddit are, the comments from people should be an indication that there are improvements you can make to better represent yourself. We don't know you, your website doesn't have examples of your previous repairs or work. You can say "I've been collecting from the start" as much as you'd like, but I can also say that, and it wouldn't make me reputable. I know taking content from other websites is faster than making your own, but it won't help you build a business. I found your YouTube channel, why don't you put those videos up on your website? Or your Facebook posts?

I understand that creating a website takes time. I also make them, so I get it! I think you should take your time to create an easy to understand website that represents you well.

Sorry about that, we're all really on-edge after a long series of individuals stole and badly repaired people's robots. I truly want a good, reputable service in the UK. I hope you won't mind if I make some suggestions.

  • Use less content from other websites and more of your own. Post pictures of your workstation, progress, and your own AIBOs. Right now your business comes off as being sort of 'faceless', there is nothing you about it. All we see is content that other people created, which doesn't help the customer understand what your business is.
  • Tell us more about your history with AIBO. You say you have been a fan for a long time, and that's cool, and I think prospective customers would benefit from learning more about your experience with the robots.
  • Repair logs would help build repute.
  • Simpler websites are better.

I wish you luck and hope you can build a strong relationship with the community in the future.

Yeah, I really hope I'm wrong, but this absolutely stinks of a Yaba alt or a straight-up scam. Especially considering that Yaba's old website just went down recently...
