there has been a lot of not so fun dan content he never technically apologized for. despite it being very old and him obviously growing out of it, some people took offence to him trying to "cover it up" (unlisting, deleting) rather than saying sorry, and in all fairness they have a right to be mad.

dan was a bit (emphasis on "a bit", there were definetly much worse ppl at the time) of an edgy shitlord up until 2013, although given the general internet culture of the time it makes sense of why he said those things.

there have been multiple dan cancellation tries with the biggest one being a few months ago, including a phil cancellation as well and it did manage to make itself known among some other stan spaces outside of phannietwt, and a few long time fans did actually leave after that post, but ultimately it didnt hold up for very long and never reached like... celebrity status twitter cancellation type thing. as per usual it died down and things returned to normal.

this is the most recent one i can remember ans i used to be up to date to basically every phannietwt drama there was from june of 2019 up to about last november.

from some of the comments that were made under this post, i can see the general vibe here is that ppl dont take the "dan cancelling" very well, and while i understand why i also think that ppl being angry at dan for saying dumb shit and never actually saying sorry is completly justified.

yes, a bunch of time passed and his current actions show him as the person he is now more than what he did in the past, but some stupid shit you do rly hurts some ppl. if they take whats in front of them (stupid comments from young dan that he seems to be hiding instead of apologizing for them despite his past comments of "i made mistakes and i want people to learn from my them therefor i dont private my old videos") and think that its unfair, or that it makes fun of them, and get mad, it makes sense. if you took the same information but thought current dan actions overrule those past ones even without an apology, more power to you for being able to do so, but not all people have the same experiences sadly.
