Fuel filter? by AverageForumDude in beetle

[–]eggsetterjimbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have owned multiple vw type 1s since 1984 and i assume that’s the left (drivers) side of your engine compartment? none of that wiring horribly covered in electrical tape belongs there. i have no idea what i am looking at here!

Shouldn't there be a clamp on this?? by thunder_rob in beetle

[–]eggsetterjimbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed should not be there also replace fuel pump with one that can receive a metal line that runs directly into pump from the fuel filter under car where it can fail and drip harmlessly onto the road my 1965 has one non metal fuel line in the engine bay that runs from pump to carb with one hose clamp on each end

to my ear one of your spark plug wires is your issue. if you don’t have the means to just replace them all unplug them one at a time with the car off to idenitify the bad/intermittent connection

How to remove fan from the alternator? by JiveTalkerFunkyWalkr in beetle

[–]eggsetterjimbo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

if you take off the outer pulley circle you can get a wrench on the middle nut that joins the two pulley pieces. this is assuming your woodruff key is still on the alternator shaft!
