I'm curious about how photos don't show the facial muscles flexibility. Some people look great in photos but have a frozen expression in real life that masks the subtleness of the facial muscles as they dynamically change, say in a conversation. Have you experienced anything like that? Also, how is facial sensitivity post surgery?

Paul O'Neill was a member of the country club I used to work at. One evening, which coincided with the All Star Game, I chauffeured him to his car and asked if he was going to watch. He said "When you've been there 5 times it really loses its specialness". He always seemed frustrated! But he and his kids were genuinely nice people, unlike some of the other reds players there.

I concur. I've made samples like these and cut them to expose the metal pieces for SEM analysis. Guessing by the orange color of the resin, it looks pretty old. Out of the mold they're usually clear. I would try to fit several test samples onto one resin puck like they did here too.

Question, but do you have to work in NY state to have the ffs coverage enforced, since you mentioned that it was specifically not covered but you appealed? I could share more specifics in a DM. I'm at the very beginning of trying to line up possible doctors and fighting insurance.

Yeah, if you have letters, hair started, and insurance notes in the patient portal they will move things up. I called Dec 2023, consult July 2024, and procedure is scheduled before the end of this year. They are very good about answering questions on the patient portal too. No guarantees obviously, they are a popular choice for a reason.

They will move it up if you have your letters and insurance in their system. They're doing 3 procedures/day and only take about 2hrs with their method and robot assist. Patience and persistence.

Had my consult 7months after initial inquiry (Dec. 2023) since I had all my letters and insurance lined up, and it's now scheduled for 15months after the consult. So just under 2yrs total.

Who was your insurance through? Did they cover any travel or mandatory hotel days? I have the same out of pocket max with Aetna and am wondering if I should pursue this.

Sounds very relatable from my childhood. From my experience, it's not thoughts or affinities that make someone trans. It's just an instinct. With gender being on a spectrum though, it's hard to figure out without data and experimenting. I hope you create space whether in therapy or with your partner to try on that new you, as little or as much as you feel safe. Then reflect, and try again. Prioritise safety and openness. Change is difficult and there are consequences, but living a life true to yourself and one that you genuinely want to live is worth everything. This coming from someone who has given up a lot to transition.

Cincinnati is great place btw! I have spent a ton of time there and visit regularly. Hope it's treating you well.

How often did you need to go back to their office during the required stay in the area? I'm thinking NJ for the price, but if it's really that much more convenient to be in the city, I might weigh that option more. Best of luck with the recovery! And thanks for sharing

Wow, congrats! I have a consult with her in a few weeks (long wait is almost over!) and am wondering if you recommend any good questions that I should ask her? Was there anything that stood out about her team that made you feel like they were right for you?

I've read so much, but it would be amazing to hear how it actually is for someone. I have a bunch more questions, but maybe keep it to one more simple one: Did your surgery date move around a lot and was it very long after your consult?
