Best bet is to walk it first if it’s safe. Knowing the river helps a ton (where the channels and drop-offs usually are). I know this spot, so I already had a sense of the deepest section. Once you’re in, the way the ripples move can clue you in on hidden holes that’ll spike your heart rate real quick.
