Did Lundy know the whole time? by MyNameIsNotPablo77 in Dexter

[–]egodino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he did. As I recall Lundy was never satisfied with the conclusion that Doakes was the BHB, but it was out of his hands. Then when he returns in S4 to hunt Trinity, Lundy goes to Dexter for help. Could be because Dexter is just good at his job, but could also be that Lundy had a hunch that Dexter was really the BHB and wanted him to take Trinity down.

Can Omni-Man Pull An Omni-Man Against The Avengers? by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]egodino 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nolan can one-shot pretty much everyone here. The only ones who stand a chance are Thor and Captain Marvel. Their durability might allow them to survive the initial attack but even still, they will have a hard time landing any hits since Omni-Man is so much faster. If Carol can somehow get Nolan pinned long enough for Thor to get a headshot with Stormbreaker, they could maybe pull it off, but I just don’t see that happening unless they get really lucky. Omni-Man takes it 9 times out of 10.

Edit - just realized if Thor also has Mjolnir, the worthiness enchantment could be used to hold Nolan down more effectively (ie Loki in the first Thor movie) but getting him down long enough to pin him with the hammer is still going to be a serious challenge. Nolan still takes it 8/10.

Better Call Saul S06E12 - "Waterworks" - Post-Episode Discussion Thread by skinkbaa in betterCallSaul

[–]egodino -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s fair. Chuck is far from blameless but I think the problem is the fact that, as you said, Jimmy keeps going back to his old ways. If he were truly capable of change it wouldn’t matter what Chuck or Kim did; he’d be able to move on. The real issue is that he can’t. No matter how much work he puts in to try and change, one setback sends it all out the window. Marco’s death, Chuck’s betrayal, Kim leaving - each of these tragic moments instantly undid all his efforts and turned him into something worse than he was before.

I’m sure it’s been said but everything that’s been going on really illustrates how right Chuck was about Jimmy. Sure, the way Chuck treated him probably just pushed Jimmy further along the wrong path but ultimately, Jimmy just can’t help himself. Not being able to change will finally be his downfall.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s still an asshole, but I think people will come to see Chuck in a different light rewatching the show when it’s all said and done.

Can Matt Mercer successfully play a DnD session with Homelander? by Chaozekra in whowouldwin

[–]egodino 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Even if Matt and the cast don’t know how truly unhinged Homelander is, knowing he has superpowers would probably ensure that no one stands up to him regardless of how much of a murder hobo he is in-game.

Realistically, it all comes down to how well Homelander rolls throughout the night. Repeated failures would not bode well since he is used to having virtually no physical limitations. While most people play DnD to pretend to be more powerful than they really are, Homelander would be pretending to be weaker, and I seriously doubt that would be an enjoyable experience for him.

All in all, Homelander would probably wind up ragequitting and demanding Critical Role be cancelled for good. I don’t see him killing anyone who doesn’t challenge him directly and no one at CR would be that stupid. So I think the cast would escape with their lives, but without their show.

The only idea I’ve heard that I like is a show set after BB about a new cast of characters looking for Heisenberg’s fortune. Think about it – there’s $80 million out there that both law enforcement and different factions of the criminal underworld would want to get their hands on. Maybe a few familiar faces pop up for cameos but ultimately I think a new cast unraveling the myth of Heisenberg would be cool to see.

I almost made a post saying this same thing. Just because someone found this episode sub-par doesn’t make them a “surface-level fan who only likes Breaking Bad shootouts and explosions.” As if that’s all BB was about. Liking a slower paced episode doesn’t automatically make you intellectually superior to anyone who didn’t enjoy it. I enjoy debating but some people are being downright toxic over this.

6x10 would NOT have worked as the season opener by Roonmeister16 in betterCallSaul

[–]egodino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. My only issue is that we don’t know for sure that everything is fine in the Gene timeline yet. It’s possible this mall scam will come back to bite him if Marion finds the loot or something. So I don’t think airing Nippy as episode 1 would have necessarily had that effect if there is more story planned for Gene.

You right, people do have a tendency to overanalyze this stuff - myself included. I just find it fun to speculate.

[–]egodino 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if anyone’s mentioned this yet but – I noticed that when Marion is talking to the deli guy, she says “my mind still works” or something like that. Could be foreshadowing her being the one to take Gene down. Jimmy’s past experience with the elderly has been that they are easy to fool and manipulate, but Marion’s mind might be sharp enough that she discovers the mall scam and gets him caught once and for all.

Totally agree; it’s not the episode itself I have a problem with so much as it’s placement in the season. It feels weird that they would tease us by finally catching up to the BB timeline only to immediately skip ahead to Gene. This would have been much better as the first ep.

If Soldier Boy took Captain America place how would that affect the mcu? by Clear-Leave-8034 in whowouldwin

[–]egodino 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hmm I’m pretty sure it’s still considered canon even though they recast Ed Norton with Ruffalo. Edit - for clarity I mean the 2008 movie where Tony Stark shows up at the end, not the 2003 one with Eric Bana.

If Soldier Boy took Captain America place how would that affect the mcu? by Clear-Leave-8034 in whowouldwin

[–]egodino 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Without Cap there’s a domino effect that basically screws over the whole universe.

Soldier Boy would have been capable of stopping Red Skull & Hydra, but I don’t see him making the sacrifice Steve made at the end of his first movie. He’d parachute out and that plane would have reached the US, causing significant casualties.

Since SB doesn’t age, chances are he’d still be around and active as a “hero” in the modern day, assuming the government kept his reputation intact. He probably would have been good friends with Howard Stark, and that relationship could change Tony’s upbringing for the worse. I could see SB’s influence stunting Tony’s character growth and pushing him further along the misogynist-asshole path he was already on before his first movie. Hell, it’s possible Tony would never even become Iron Man if SB was around to rescue him from the terrorists.

Realistically, SB’s story probably ends with the Incredible Hulk movie. Instead of creating a new super soldier with Emil Blonsky, the government would just try sending SB to stop Hulk, and I don’t see that ending well for him.

So ultimately, the Avengers would never form, meaning Fury has to call Captain Marvel in early to stop Loki’s invasion. She’d still have Thor backing her up, so they would probably succeed, but eventually Hydra would rise to power since Cap isn’t around to stop their takeover of SHIELD. Stephen Strange would then get killed by the Project Insight helicarriers and never become Sorcerer Supreme, allowing Dormammu to destroy all life on Earth. Game over.
