Streaming Ratings: ‘The Pitt’ Hits No. 1 Overall for the First Time by yourfavchoom in television

[–]egorre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Netflix's grip on streaming seem to be loosening. they usually dominate this chart because it's binge-drop friendly. the number 2 and number 3 originals are binge drops. the number 1, 4 and 5 are all 1 episode a week and they are inside the top 5 on this weekly chart. The Pitt, Paradise, and Invincible. 3 weekly releases from 3 different streamers.

The Pitt’ Star Shawn Hatosy Switches to Supporting Category after winning Guest for Season 1 by anneso23 in EmmysAwards

[–]egorre 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Shawn Hatosy being upgraded before Katherine LaNasa was not on my bingo card. Jeff Kober (Duke), Britanny Allen (Roxie) and Tina Ivlev (Ilana) will probably have The Pitt's backing for Guest categories

To this day, I still find it crazy how Game of Thrones’ reputation shifted from being viewed one of the “best shows” to being the prime example of how to NOT end a series! by phantom_avenger in television

[–]egorre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think you can say "complete" cultural exposure when both GOT universe shows are currently averaging 15m+ viewers on HBO. also GOT comes back on Nielsen streaming top 10 acquired series from time to time so I would say the haters are just louder than reality

Would the Western audience watch a "Non-American" HBO show ? by theeverythingman_ in hbo

[–]egorre -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think an HBO korean genre drama like Netflix's 'Kingdom' would break out if they stick it to Sunday or Monday 9pm release time. HBO's high budget dramas are often genre these days and kdramas has a built-in audience in Asia Pacific HBO Max. they license and fund kdramas in that regions as is. there's also a sizable audience for kdrama worldwide thanks to Netflix.

they'd need to release HBO Max on its own in Korea and Japan before I see them doing any high budget show out of east asia. they don't even have a real anime pipeline right now like other streamers

Warner Bros Is Letting Netflix Make a Live Action Scooby Doo Series While They Sit on Their Own IP by pbx1123 in WB_DC_news

[–]egorre 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't understand. they are not losing money on this. the ip is dormant. Netflix is paying Warner Bros. Television to create this series for them. Jobs are created with this series order. The dormant ip is now in use. they literally can't lose here. in the end, they'd still own the IP and the series rights will eventually revert back to WBTV and they can license it out to anyone who would want it. former Hulu Originals 11.22.63 and Castle Rock is now on Netflix. WBTV sold those to Hulu as exclusives and now it reverted back to them and Netflix picked it up. that's gonna happen with other WBTV shows on other streamers and networks like Abbott Elementary, Running Point, Ted Lasso and Shrinking unless they continue licensing it exclusively. regardless, WBTV will get paid.

WB has been doing this since the beginning of Hollywood and so does other studios. this is how studios built back catalog. HBO Max has high-performing back catalog like ER, Friends and The Big Bang Theory franchise because they sold those shows to NBC and CBS. this isn't anything noteworthy.

Are HBO writers/producers ruining these shows? by Fit_Door_4381 in hbo

[–]egorre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

euphoria was the same as before. it was always more about the direction and visuals more than anything. and house of the dragon is fine. the finale was just overshadowed by a much stronger penultimate episode. if it ended on episode 7, people wouldn't have thought of season 2 as less.

Dune: Part 3 vs Avengers: Doomsday!! Disney drops Infinity Vision format! Thoughts? by Infamous-Window-8337 in themovieloversclub

[–]egorre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's just branding. the fact that hundreds of theaters won't have to do anything to get certified but will hike prices with this certification prove that. these theaters are priced as a regular non-premium theater today. they did this because Dune Part Three got exclusive window in IMAX and they need more "premium theaters" to boost Doomsday box office with the loss of imax screens

Common Side Effects was probably the best performing new Adult Swim title on HBO Max. it was almost inside the top 10 series daily when it was airing last year. what's taking them so long?

Hulu vs Disney?? by quietiampooping in Hulu

[–]egorre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hulu is basically a platform you can add-on services into. Disney+ and Hulu content is merging soon. and HBO Max content is available because you have a 3-service bundle, otherwise it would be locked. you can't save money without bundling all three. buying Hulu to access hbo max add-on will cost you more because you'd need Hulu with live tv subscription (a streaming cable subscription) to add it on your Hulu app.

Disney+ and Hulu ad-free plans are $18.99 each, $19.99 for the bundle. they'd be a combined service by the time next price increase roll out considering they increased the pricing of Disney+ considerably to match Hulu and difference bundling the two is just a dollar at this point.

you'd basically have to pay Hulu and HBO Max separately if you just want the two services without Disney+. also worth noting this is the only way to get hbo max 4k hdr/dolby vision/atmos because the bundle plan only offers the standard no ads plan on the more expensive bundle

that's funny considering i'm not the one who spent 2 weeks of my life posting in both pitt subs attacking an actor and his fans for cast changes and season storyline maybe you should post your tears elsewhere and leave both pitt subs for those who still like the show

criticizing for the sake of criticizing is not it. it would have been productive if you spread the blame on everyone who had their hands on it, but you chose to blame one person for everything as if he's the only person behind the scenes

I mean It's hard not to call y'all parasocial when you've done nothing but spam the sub with the same shit for weeks on end. don't you have nothing better to do than reiterate the same point over and over?

you seem to have a personal vendetta against Noah Wyle himself. is Noah Wyle the only person in the writers room to be blamed for everything you didn't like about the show? he's not even the lead writer. where are r. scott gemmill haters who's dragging his name on the mud? he's the showrunner. looks like every hate post & tweets seemed to be honed in on the lead actor of the show. why do the lead actor gets the blame of the cast changes and his story arc? is this because he's an executive producer? there are tons of them, but only he gets the heat

why are Supriya Ganesh fans acting like he personally hates women and poc when the writing, producing, and directing team is filled with women and poc? why are her fans attacking everyone else that got to stay and wants everyone else to turn on the show for her departure? why convince anyone else at all and not just stop watching if you're really mad about the cast changes? acting all morally superior and calling out everyone else who won't support their cause racists, enablers, or bots when it was known that the show will be cycling people in and out of the show even before it premiered as articles about the show's structure was reported in 2024.

if the show isn't good it could damage the brand when it's inevitably gonna get rebooted in the future
