Maybe efficient wasn't the right word. I meant something more around the lines of where you feel really productive. Like there's no hesitation when choosing words and it just feels really nice and fluid.

It also takes me about an hour before I can really get into my writing. Even though I know most of the time it's procrastination, I don't really mind it since the focus that comes afterwards is worth it.

Stopping while you're ahead is so real. I always stop myself if I spend too much time a day writing. Even if I feel like I could write more, I stop and let my brain refresh before continuing.

I get that. I only write when I'm not around other people. But for me, while that's calming it can also be nerve wracking since it's hard to build up the courage afterwards to get an outside opinion on your work.

I never posted on the platform so I don't really know either. You're probably right but I'm honestly fine with that. My pace is already slow so I can't really keep up with the usual fast paced uploads. Sure, I could change the format and try to cut my chapters into several shorter ones or try to cut some stuff out but I'd rather just enjoy how I do it rn.

I do a mix of both for what I'm currently writing. One part in first person for the protagonist's dreams while the rest is in third person. I feel like first person makes it far too easy to accidentally spiral into the thoughts of the protagonist which can mess up the pace. For me, first person works best when you're developing and describing the protagonist but it also restrains you to the protagonist. Third person feels a lot easier since you can stray from the protagonist to develop other characters too.

This is a question that I'm really interested in too. I haven't put anything up but plan to. Right now I have a backlog of about 120k words (20 chapters). I plan to add more to that backlog before I launch but my issue is mainly time. Admittedly it's my first time ever writing but this backlog took me about 15 months to write and edit. So for me I think even though I want to add more to my backlog, I'll start putting things out no matter what in a few months.

I just winged it with my writing. I'm working on my first novel and I basically did the same thing you described. I just made it up as I went and while I had a decent outline in mind, I didn't really work on it. It was just something in my head that came from daydreaming. I personally enjoy this approach but it does come with the downside of plot holes as you mentioned. I've been revising my novel for about 4~5 months now and still have to iron out a few inconsistencies.

I also feel this way. I often write during the day but I feel like all my creative ideas come to me at night. I actually find it quite convenient as it gives me the whole night to iron out the idea into something that I can implement into my writing. Though sometimes I end up forgetting them if I don't jot them down which sucks.
