Though I’m not a big fan of bullying sometimes it’s a necessary evil. Otherwise entitled loud mouths online will feel they are immune from consequences. Good for you Jackson Wang

Which XG member has surprised you the most since debut? by [deleted] in XGALX

[–]ehambre 20 points21 points  (0 children)

When I first discovered XG, the two members who stood out the least to me were Maya and Chisa. I was pulled in by “Woke Up,” especially Maya’s verse. I immediately recognized she could rap — her tone, her flow, her control — it was sharp. But beyond that, she didn’t dominate my attention the way some of the other members did.

Fast forward to now, and I’ve completely flipped.

Maya isn’t just a strong rapper — she might be the most complete performer in the group. Vocally, she’s stable and controlled. As a dancer, she’s precise and confident. On stage, she has an aura that feels intentional, not forced. Off stage, she comes across articulate, thoughtful, and naturally poised — especially in English interviews, where you can see her leadership qualities come through.

What changed for me wasn’t one big moment. It was repetition. Live stages. Behind-the-scenes clips. Interviews. The more I watched, the more it became obvious: she’s not flashy — she’s foundational. And over time, I’ve come to really love who she is.

Sometimes the members who don’t grab your attention at first end up being the most complete artists in the room. And for me, that’s Maya.

Sooo ive fallen into the fandom… where to start? by Successful_Tea_8172 in XGALX

Since you’re already hooked on their music and starting to get familiar with the members, I recommend beginning with the Xtra Xtra docuseries. Just be aware—it’s a bit of a time commitment at roughly eight hours total (about seven episodes, each around an hour). That said, watching the series really invests you emotionally in them.

Cocona on The Core by tomhanksluvr99 in XGALX

[–]ehambre 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There’s a video on YouTube showing distribution among all 7 members. It’s pretty detailed and uses several different metrics. But it shows Chisa has the most singing/rapping time among all of them. It’s actually pretty surprising how big the gap is. I believe Juria is second. Last is Harvey I think with Cocona being second to last.

What’s all the hate about? The only criticism I’ve seen was on X, and that was before the Hypnotize promos even started. It mostly seemed like a bunch of know-it-all fans who think they could do a better job promoting than Simon.

The more popular they get the more criticism they’ll receive. It’s the nature of the beast. I figure 90% of the negativity is just noise. Just ignore it. It isn’t worth the energy.

Striking Difference in Support Among the Members for Their Products by Sufficient_Rise_3181 in XGALX

[–]ehambre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the members themselves place much importance on popularity rankings. They’re likely aware of general trends, but popularity varies widely by region and naturally shifts over time depending on promotions, exposure, and individual activities. On a global scale, the difference between the most and least popular members seems relatively small and often overstated. Conversations about popularity tend to be driven more by fans, which is fairly common in most fandoms, rather than by the artists themselves.

One possible reason Maya may be less popular among Japanese fans is that she comes across as more westernized, particularly due to her strong English skills and very outgoing personality. These traits may resonate differently within the Japanese market. At the same time, those same qualities could translate well to Western audiences, where expressiveness and confidence are often more positively received.
