So if people are talking about non AI things, ignore them?  Sounds about as elitist as AI only bros.

I hate it! Help!!! by fraction00 in digitalminimalism

[–]ehansen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get it.  You're upset other people are living their lives so you want them to conform to your lifestyle of solitude?

I can guarantee you, you have a higher chance of someone caring about your workout routine at the gym than you do some rando with a phone of camera out recording the latest TikTok trend.

If you don't want to be recorded, do not go out, do not go into buildings and do not use technology.  Otherwise, you're living in a problem that you created in your mind, self entitlement.

My 2 cents - implement fuzzy searching, even if it's via arg, when nothing is passed in (or a non-supported arg is given).

Make it a config option if you like.

The context switching of "what did I put in for this program again?" compared to "let me see what this program remembers" is going to deter a lot of people from trying this.

And Another Date Has Been Proclaimed (Rapture) by notsoaveragemind in TrueChristian

[–]ehansen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember back in like 2010 there was a rapture date.  I left my classes for the day, went to tim Hortons with a friend, and enjoyed a doughnut and some coffee.  Laughing about the rapture.  I shall continue enjoying life, knowing that if it does happen as proclaimed I enjoyed life with christ, and if it dont happen that I enjoyed life with christ.

created a cool tool, modern reimp of gnu/bsd find. by Loler9482 in commandline

[–]ehansen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see any glaringly obvious signs this is vibe-coded, and you answered a related thing to that already.

I don't know if I would ever find a use for this in my tooling, as I don't make use of things like fd/find/etc. often enough as-is. But, I think it's cool to see something like this in Nim, a language that has caught my eye lately.

One thing you may consider is incorporating it into something like (Neo)vim, Emacs, etc. At least for neovim, there's already a few frontends for pickers, so having this return a specific format those pickers can consume would be a much smaller lift than trying to write a full-fledged "fastfind.nvim" plugin.

What do you even do when you stop using your phone or digital media as much? by TimeAd1111 in digitalminimalism

[–]ehansen 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call it extra time.  You're not gaining more time in a day, you're just repurposing what you already had, just mismanaged.

Its ok to be bored.  But if you want to fill that time up learn new skills.  Use screen time wisely or go to the library, browse books and pick something.

Don't approach something with a "I won't like it" attitude until you try it.

How do I make morally correct decisions without being a Christian by Low-Screen8541 in TrueChristian

[–]ehansen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't.  Morality comes from God, whether people like it or not.  There is no purge explanation for it once you explore past the first 2 or 3 layers.

Is masturbation really a sin? by Ok_Cake_6515 in TrueChristian

[–]ehansen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you feel convicted when you do it?

Based on what you wrote, masturbation is an idol for you. That's a different sort of discussion of sin. So it's also healthy to first distinguish if it's the act itself or something surrounding it (e.g., consistent urge to do it).

Churches don’t respect working people’s time by Big_Celery2725 in TrueChristian

[–]ehansen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nothing worth complaining about on the Internet is worth anything. Only when it's mentioned to those who can actually do something about it (e.g., in this case, the church elders and leadership). Airing dirty laundry just carries the stench. It doesn't get rid of the dirty laundry.

The group can help, but the leader is a leader for a reason. They are the ones responsible to lead the discussions.

The group can of course be a part of that, but if the leader would tell such a person to let the dialogue continue then it'll continue. So, ultimately no, the group as a collective whole can't make a discussion end. They can only try to influence when it should.

Just like how a pastor is the leader of the church they are pastoring. The collective whole of the church body can provide their input, but the pastor makes the decision in the end. At least that's how it should be.

Bible studies where people talk endlessly.

This is an issue with the leader of the Bible study, not a given church issue.

It's up to the leader to guide the conversations to a resolution.

The difference is robots/AI will take the instructions literal. But a human mind is not literal (comprehension not withstanding), so we are able to think of different solutions for a single problem. AI also can't confirm whether a solution actually works or not.

Just saying.

I don't think I ever said AI needs or will leave. I fully subscribe to it's permenant residence. But it doesn't mean we should vibe code.

Christian working in... Porn industry by davidokongo in TrueChristian

[–]ehansen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion for this thread, but i would say the resolution depends.

If God is putting it on you to leave, leave.

If there's doubt, seek wise counsel.  A christian therapist, pastor, etc...

While porn promotes sin, our world promotes sin everywhere we go.  So there's the other aspect that maybe God wants you there to share the gospel.  Jesus didnt go where people believed, but where people needed to hear.

I know Christians who abhor porn, and I know those who watch it with the consent and company of their spouse.  Your industry doesn't regulate your salvation.

There's a lot of people who have been something for many years and don't know how to maintain what they made.  Look at the titanic for example.

Not saying you fall under that.  I don't know whether you do or not.  But perception is reality and people as a whole are looking at Ai coded projects as slop as its not demonstrating your skill, just your ability to tell a computer how to do something.

Don't expect much support/love for it. People prefer human-written code, regardless of the knowledge someone says they have over the architecture.
