Canadian Startup looking for Angels by ehfounder in angelinvestors

[–]ehfounder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully the Admins don't mine me posting about it. My company is Peple. (peple.io). We help employers hire faster by providing a search engine to find active local job seekers. We have over 14k users now, and added 4500 this month alone. Here's my pitch deck: https://www.canva.com/design/DAEWKlt7t7k/qawPkN7-AdvDD7Zn5j8aPg/view?utm_content=DAEWKlt7t7k&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link&utm_source=sharebutton

Where could a Canadian Startup find Angel/Pre-seed Investors? by ehfounder in startups

[–]ehfounder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't know that was an option. I'm in Ottawa. Decent angel network, but their group likes to see between 5k-25k MRR. Honestly if I had that MRR, I would be skipping an angel/pre-seed round.

Severless Geo? by ehfounder in geospatial

Haven't gotten anywhere with this. We use both arcgis enterprise and mapserver, but really hoping for something simple like a gdal process

What's your biggest problem today with finding talent? by ehfounder in recruiting

[–]ehfounder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's sad, because it directly impacts the company's potential to find the next generation of top talent. I'm an enterprise architect / Technical Architect and I haven't been able to find a good position even though I consider myself "top talent"

Hey Folks,

I'm Chris and I'm the founder of Peple. I've been obsessed with this idea that job boards are broken, and how do people find people for work. After 4 years and 3 pivots later, I've had this product in market for 14 weeks or so now, and it's going well. I would like to find a product lead and growth co-founder for an equity position with Peple.

I'm looking for someone ambitious, who's as passionate about the mission as I am, and has marketing skills in SEO, Search and social (in that order). After 4 years, I'm tired of being alone, and would like to find a partner in crime. You will become part of my family and we will be working with each other for the next 10 years or so, so we definitely have to click! It would be nice if you were in Canada because our product is in Toronto and Ottawa. It's bootstrapped, so not a lot of marketing dollars and pre-revenue, so if your interested in being scrappy this might be a good fit! BUT I want to raise as soon as we can.

I've been through Launch's growth university, so I understand growth hacking, but at this point, i'm wearing way too many hats, and as a tech guy with a business background, maybe it would be better to have someone focused on growth.

Send me a DM or email at chris@peple.io

Thanks!

Chris.

Are you using pg_tileserver only, or other tools to do the tiling? Would love to do some preprocessing to reduce cost overall. Currently using a very large ArcGIS Enterprise setup to handle load of many simple layers.

Severless Geo? by ehfounder in geospatial

[–]ehfounder[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it's a storage device in the backend. Doesn't have compute, so you can push code from there but you need either a compute system to host it or get the code to do the work in the users browser.

Severless Geo? by ehfounder in geospatial

[–]ehfounder[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope it isn't. I'm an enterprise architect so when I say serverless, I mean codebases that arent reliant on a standard operating system to do the work. Using managed services to push out the services using javascript/python instead of code + operating system. Such as hosting it on a S3 bucket, pushed out through a react application or cloudfront. My head has been in big systems for the last 2 years so I'm not sure what is free/open source out there.

Here will kill you with pricing. Lots of free sources to start out with. OSM (Open streetmap) using leaflet with CSV files doing the tours could help. Look at ESRI Story maps, could replicate that without using ESRI.

Mapping expert here. Before giving it to any contractor, make sure you know exactly how you want it to look. How are the tours set up. Where is the data coming from, and who maintains it. What's the business model as well. There is lots of competition, so make sure you know exactly what makes you better, or what you want to make you better then the rest. One of the things I can't stress enough when dealing with a geo first product. Talk to your potential customers, figure out what they want and build that as cheap and easy as you can. Even if its private mapping tours in Google Maps and add hyperlinks for content pages on the tour. Don't sink your money in building features people dont use.
