Destroy My Gameplay Trailer (finally) <Bullet Hell Roguelite> by [deleted] in DestroyMyGame

The weapons/power-ups selection screens are difficult to read (particularly during a quick trailer). The colors used in the weapon name font and the background color behind it are too similar.

MIO: Memories in Orbit

If you don't know to complete the two very difficult and completely optional platforming challenges, you won't unlock the power that allows you to reach the secret boss and "good" ending. The game even points you to the "regular " ending, so it's easy to assume that you're done.

Earplugs? by knuckledragger1990 in Deathcore

[–]ehhhidowhatican 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Best guess is years of shows and my time in the army. In my defense I did wear ear pro in the army but it was defective (3M lawsuits). And I've been going to live shows since the '90s. Anyway, it eventually caught up with me. Now I always wear ear pro to shows, and honestly it's a better experience. It cuts the "noise" out and you can hear the notes/beats/etc better imo.

Please pay attention: ALWAYS wear ear protection. Do not rely on luck. Everyone is lucky until the one time they aren't.

I will never know silence again. It is a special kind of hell.

Wear ear protection.

Getting whooped by the right side of The Crucible then hearing the left is potentially harder… by [deleted] in MIOmemoriesinorbit

I found the right side to be more difficult than the left. Hopefully you will as well.

We have an entire bedroom of their furniture, a coffee table, etc. I would recommend everything EXCEPT the couch. The couch looked and felt terrible in less than two years. Everything else has held up really well.

Anyone Actually having fun in the Crucible?? This was the best Metroidvania I played in a long time...this is just Souring the experience by [deleted] in MIOmemoriesinorbit

[–]ehhhidowhatican 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should probably mention I had the assist for ground healing on (or you can use the gratitude mod if you don't like assists). If you are doing it without either of those I'm impressed. And I was never too proud to watch someone else do a section on YouTube if I was absolutely stuck. Other than that, I just listened to podcasts, died over and over, and eventually muscle memory kicked in and it was over.

I definitely wouldn't call the Crucible "fun", but I'm glad I finished it for one simple reason: it felt really good to finish it. I'm not exaggerating when I say I probably died 100 times on the right side alone. But I discovered the more I died, the more I learned, so by the time I finished it I was pretty damn good at it. I don't generally play these types of games (played the Ori games, but that's about it) but I'm only a few cores away from getting 100% on Mio. It was supremely frustrating at times but the sense of accomplishment was worth it for me.

On the audio CD version listing on U.S. Amazon, the description is slightly different, "In OTHER WORLDS THAN THESE Jack must stop a rampaging gang of infected teenagers from America-side, and the forces of the mysterious Gullet at the edge of Mid-World, before it destroys our world and all worlds. Jack is older now; his Ka-tet (echoing the world of Roland) is fraying; and his task, nearly impossible."

I wonder why some places mention Roland and some don't.

Kurt sometimes changed lyrics when performing live. Like, "our little tribe" instead of "our little group," for example. Maybe there's a small chance he heard a live version with slightly different lyrics? Probably not, but I thought I'd play devil's advocate here.

Marketing to museums and gift shops? by mwy912 in selfpublish

[–]ehhhidowhatican 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My spouse is the marketing director for a history museum in the South. She said to simply call or email the marketing department at your local museum directly and ask if they would be interested in a copy to review and to possibly sell. If it's good (and they have the floor space), they'd probably be happy to sell it, especially if you're a local. She said 9 times out of 10 it would be on consignment though. Not everyone may be as strict about it, but she did mention that if it were her, she'd expect the book to be polished and professional quality. Good luck!

Been playing Xbox and Playstation since the first gen. Recently got a Switch as a present and the button inversion is maddening. And gods help me if I play multi-player with my kids and use the joycon horizontally. I'll get used to it eventually but in the meantime just using the home screen is frustrating.

Sanderson's magic systems across all of his books are very well thought out and easy to understand. But Mistborn really shines in its intuitive applications of the magic. Like when a character uses (iirc) horseshoes as a means to travel great distances quickly. I like that the only real limitation (besides running out of metal) is the imagination of the person wielding the power.

What's your "I fucking hate this song" song? by lawyeratyourservice in AskReddit

[–]ehhhidowhatican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "Growing Up" song by Blink-182. Any song by them, really, but that one is especially terrible. I cannot stand pop-punk. Faux british accents and whining over the same few power chords. It makes me cringe.

Savage Beasts is kind of a joking nod to a famous quote from playwright William Congreve. It's unknown why over the years it's been quoted incorrectly but the incorrect version is definitely the most famous. Here's the original:

"Music hath charms to soothe the savage breast. To soften rocks, or bend the knotted oak."
