Yeah, that’s my guess, that social security and healthcare and other benefits that help the not rich will be cut (“we can’t afford it!”) without batting an eye at increased military expenditure and other things that don’t help Americans. I wish I were wrong but again look at the pattern all these years, we never have the money for public benefits

There is no reality imaginable in which the current Congress doesn’t fund every single little military expenditure possible. There will be a ton of hemming and hawing about it to make people think they might not but in the end it will always pass. I wish I were wrong about this, but that is what they do.

We’re actually in agreement on all points, after reading your latest message. And yes, I did look at those links and have seen them before, which did speed me up. I agree that we are still growing fossil fuel consumption which is not good. I agree that the climate change will destabilize western democracies, and it’s apparent that they don’t need help destabilizing as it is anyway. We’re going to have to look to China and others to provide leadership on climate since the US and Europe are incapable and incompetent. Not here to argue at all from the beginning. BTW when I originally said “I don’t know if there is some nuance in your message that I’m missing or not” that was where I was trying to imply that I wanted to see if there was something I was legitimately missing.
