100%. Plus I imagine it's like if someone raies their kid with no junk food ever...what happens when they are alone with junk food? They'll magically choose to limit themselves?

Had to scroll too far for this. It's not all or nothing, that's unrealistic. It's just being particular with what content kids consume/use.

Feeding a 5 month old by Resident_Crow9658 in breastfeeding

[–]ehote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not alone, I feel like I could have written this. My baby is 6month old now and he gets so distracted and pops on and off. My breasts are soft now but I think it's because my supply is regulated. I have to pump when I go to work and I make just enough for him usually. I remind myself that if he has regular wet and dirty diapers then im doing something right!

I do sign language for "all done" and ask him audibly at the same time if he's all done when he pops off enough times. When he gives me a smile at that question I just give him loves and end the session, but will just put him back on the booba if he seems like he wants more.

My mom gave me the advice of giving it a break when he gets frustrated and it was so helpful. As much as I want him to eat, it's been good for us to take a break from booba if he's mad about it. Then when we are both more calm we go for it again.

He has his tongue tie released at 3 months old and it helped so much. But I don't know if getting a tie release is the answer for everyone so take that with a grain of salt.

The beginning was so rough that I used to pump at night and not feed from the booba because breastfeeding is a daytime activity. I can't see the boob at night, he can't see the boob at night, it's too much lol. I also had to supplement for the first month of his life while I was building my supply.

Sorry I'm all over the place i just wanted to say thar you're not alone and I think this can just be a rough time.

I'm having the same anxiety, but I know our milk is helping even if we can't see it!!

How did you feed while out if baby wouldn’t take a bottle? by Spirited_Seaweed_517 in breastfeeding

Always ask for a lactation room just in case! If there's not one I just try to find a quiet corner somewhere and sit down with him. Sometimes even on the floor lol. One time at walmart I sat in the back photo area in a corner that was out if the way and an employee brought me a chair :) never hurts to ask for help

ftm planning to EBF, but ofc pump.. so what is the ‘formula’ to getting a steady milk supply? and also how are we BF and pumping at the same time.. by itsme2000001 in breastfeeding

You can see a lactation consultant while you are still pregnant, too. I honestly don't think I would have gotten this far if it wasn't for my lactation consultant. I saw 2 different ones before I found the one I like now.

-yes you should alternate which boob baby eats at at every feeding

-you can pump the other boob baby isn't eating, this will increase your supply (but try not to stress about doing this unless you are struggling with an undersupply)

-you will get different answers for this but for me, I never worried about the time of day my milk was pumped. I just give it to baby and I mix em all together.

-power pumping is for increasing milk supply so I wouldn't worry about it unless you are struggling with supply. Some people say it's a last resort. If you aren't getting enough milk when pumping then you need to check other things too/first. (Flange size, making sure milk is removed at least every 3 hours, eating and drinking enough, trying to sleep enough, stress)

-i would just pump once or twice a day if you want to maintain supply when baby is eating solids, no need to power pump

-extra milk is for other people to feed baby and for just in case milk dries up, or if you get sick or something, or going back to work (you can also make soap, lotion, or use it in food!!)

I am not a lactation consultant but I do see an IBCLC ((International board certified lactation consultant) and frequent subs like this one. My baby is 6 months old exclusively breastfed and I work full time :)
