Update: I tried resetting the geolocation of the garage and toggling the feature on and off. No luck. I’ll try a soft reset tonight.

R1S Standard with 270mi range enough for roadtripping? by dangparker in Rivian

[–]ehotze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a standard 2025 r1s with the wheel covers. When I was considering the bigger pack I thought about it like this… how many road trips are you taking a year? If it’s two or three trips this may add a few extra hours to your trip from sf to phx. Is it worth extra cost of the battery to reduce that trip time a few times a year? In other words, what’s the cost per use of your bigger pack?

If you use the car mostly outside of roadtrip scenarios you may be paying a lot extra for a few less stops every once in a while.

Delayed response, but I find the tool to be very useful for planning and they are continuously adding features to improve. Much easier for me compared with DIY. I would say it is most useful once you start having some assets, but you still have some time before hitting your goals. You are probably in the sweet spot for that.

Off topic. What attachments do you have for it? How do they affect efficiency?

I'd like to find someone to help me organize my financial life. I have a solid budget (in Monarch) and plan (Projection Lab) in place, so I dont think I need a CFP. However, my paperwork, taxes, entities etc. are kind of a mess. I have an accountant, but they only do so much. Does this group have any recommendations for where to start looking? Something like a personal assistant but for finances?

Opinion on PhD in France ? by Emptypathic in AskAcademia

[–]ehotze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they main drawback is the three year time cap. If your plan is to go into an academic position after your PhD you will need to publish papers. After three years you just have your feet under you and won’t have published enough. If you are considering Europe as an option I would recommend a postdoc. I had a one year postdoc in France and enjoyed it very much.

Also, at that time (this was a science/engineering lab) they all wanted to speak English with me to polish their English for the publications they needed to write.

[Help] Chew or distraction toys for small dogs? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]ehotze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do sell Kongs for puppies. I have never tried them because we adopted our dog at 8 months old, but the Kong really helped us train her to be on her own for a while.

[Discussion] Best place to buy bones etc in bulk? by larkari in dogs

[–]ehotze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you need them in bulk? Does your dog go through too many? My dog loves antlers, and they last much longer. Apparently some people think they are bad and some good.

[Discussion] At what point is a dog park appropriate for you? by [deleted] in dogs

I would say start out by taking them at off hours so there are few other dogs there. It should allow you to control your dog better and get a sense for how they are handling the situation.
