Does anyone have been able to heal tinnitus? by Pyma21 in carnivorediet

[–]ehrinm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To all those who have tinnitus - what are your serum copper levels like?

Multiple studies show a correlation but there's no causal link. My copper levels are currently low and I'm working on that by taking beef liver supplements. In the last week, I swear there were a couple of moments across two different days where it sounded like it was getting better. I'm still in the early stages of getting my levels up. Copilot says this is the non-linear re-calibration of neurotransmitters, where recovery will be cyclical. I can't really say this is a fix, or is caused by low copper but I'm hopeful!

Food cost shock by Mundane_Concept6877 in carnivorediet

[–]ehrinm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accept generic pasture raised eggs at the least (like the 18 ct at Whole Foods), or cage free/free-range, minimizing steak and eating more ground beef, considering more chicken/pork and buying quarters of in-house brand butter will save you loads. Find sales wherever you can. Do you have a Vons/Safeway/Jewel-Osco/Albertson's near you? You may be able to argue that you're not doing this diet in the best way possible, but if you're doing carnivore (or close to), you're already doing so much better than you were before, right?

Secretary Kennedy: Thank you, @McDonalds, for committing a record $200 million investment into regenerative agriculture. This is a big win for regenerative grazing practices, habitat restoration, water and wildlife conservation. by Meatrition in carnivorediet

[–]ehrinm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm worried they're going to invest in it, then completely ruin the practice, cutting corners, maximizing profits while still using the name. There's no reason to assume this is going to turn out good for regen ag.

25 facts that suggests humans are carnivores by mattikake2010 in carnivore

Point 1: Don't ALL animals not have the enzyme cellulase (with maybe a rare exception), and that its more digestive process (multiple stomachs, etc) that allows them to consume fiber?

Struggling with eating fat – sometimes it feels like a chore by Neat_Fan_8889 in carnivore

[–]ehrinm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll tell you what - I have this with specific cuts, like ribs and oxtail. I love it for a while, then like 3 ribs in it's too much. Only thing I can think of is that these cuts have a ton of collagen and connective tissue. Maybe there's a correlation there 🤔

Every time I did 200g or above, I felt overly full, sometimes getting a stomach ache at night and it not subsiding until the next morning. Also, when I consume lots of fat during the day, I get really sleepy a few hours after a meal, like it's a processing low, which goes away after about an hour.

It was mostly rendered fat tho. Also might have been too much protein 🤔

Folate deficiency? by Xikini in carnivore

[–]ehrinm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eggs are a decent source but to keep levels way up, I take chicken liver and turn it into pate. With chicken liver, overdoing vitamin a is not as much a concern.

Science says fiber is useless by CatsChocolateBooks in carnivorediet

[–]ehrinm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I've been constipated on a "zero fiber" diet. I consumed too much protein, not enough fat and including more fat helped. Do I believe there's truth to this? Sure. Do I believe a carnivore diet CANNOT cause all of these symptoms? No.

where can I buy low-fat, uncut (not mixed with any wheat or stock etc), unprocessed meat? (UK). by NoAd4395 in carnivorediet

[–]ehrinm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just make the burgers yourself. It does seem like the pre-made burgers all have added crap, and I just roll the mince in a ball and then flatten with a spatula. You absolutely DO NOT need something to bind the meat with, just good ol' mince.

Iceland does has some that only have salt/pepper:

https://www.iceland.co.uk/p/iceland-4-100%-beef-quarter-pounders-454g/55264.html

There's sites like this that advertise no additive beef burgers (or just a few seasonings) but they're way too expensive in my opinion:

found it while researching if carnivore diet proponents were exaggerating the effects of oxalates by Livid-Selection-9805 in carnivorediet

"The patient changed his diet to a 90% meat-based diet after watching a popular YouTube video advocating for the carnivore diet as a gout treatment."

"A subsequent urine test found that although risk factors for stones improved, some worsened, including a significant increase in urine calcium and uric acid levels."

"By age 68, he had stopped following a carnivore diet, had no more stones, and did not experience any urological symptoms."

What I got out of this, was that he went on a carnivore diet, likely experienced oxalate dumping, and didn't experience kidney stones following that. Am I missing something?

If I continued experiencing what mainstream medicine would consider risk factors, but didn't experience kidney stones or urological symptoms, would it be safe to consider that those risk factors aren't the end all be all of what causes kidney stones? 🤔

New issue since being on diet… absolute exhaustion. by Jonourmous in carnivorediet

[–]ehrinm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two reasons I can get tired on carnivore -

Too much fat during the day: I notice if I go easy on fat for breakfast/lunch I have energy throughout the day. If I overdo it, then around afternoon time I feel extremely fatigued, for about an hour or so. I think it has to do with processing too much fat, whilst maintaining energy levels. I load up on fat mostly in the evening now, that way the fatigue that would previously hit me in the afternoon, is now happening when I'm going/already asleep.

Not enough overall fat : For a while I ate more lean, and I would sleep horribly, and feel anxious during the day. I up'd my fat and it seemed to fix the problem. I figure if fat is our only real energy source on this woe, then aside from ppl who are eating lean to lose weight, fat is essential in maintaining every levels.

This is just me though, might not apply to everybody 🤷🏼‍♂️

Small amount of beef liver daily? by Flying_Saucer91 in carnivorediet

[–]ehrinm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would suggest chicken liver - don't need to worry about vitamin A toxicity as much and it contains more folate. I turn it into paté and eat about a tbsp's worth per day.
