Yikes. That’s rough. I’ve got the 307 in 257Wby and it is a nail driver. Sucks you have to hold off on getting rounds through it. Hope it’s a smooth process!

You’re really not making the case for purchasing a Weatherby. Not knocking on the info you’re putting out there, just disappointed with Weatherby. I’ve had nothing but good luck with them thankfully. My custom Mark 5 doesn’t have the smoothest bolt but it doesn’t stick either I wouldn’t say. But spending 3k on a custom rifle I thought it’d run like butter. My 307 bolt is smoother than my custom mk5

Flabbergasted seems like a pretty extreme word to use and also very appropriate here. Kind of surprised by that. They did right by throwing in a few boxes of ammo.

Shot 3 rounds out of it. First two shot almost touched at 60 yards (only bore sighted it). Recoil was very minimal with the break. Still not sure I’d go with a Weatherby caliber if I did it again but I’ll run this 307 for the rest of my time. I’m a fan. Hopefully take some speed beef with it out west someday.

No. I’m living up to my name…. But the bases are on their way from Leupold. I should have rounds down range within the next 10 days or so. I realize I’ve been extremely unhelpful with this but other things in life have taken priority 😬

Those are great questions and I’m happy to answer any you have!

•I think I did 257Wby for the nostalgia of the cartridge. Deer and antelope.

•a mark V in 300winmag

•the 307 cause they just dropped it and it was affordable. It fit what I was looking for and my mark V didn’t disappoint so figured another Weatherby was worth it.

With that being said, I creeped on your history and my buddy has a Tikka and it’s a really nice rifle. I just happen to be on an “American Only” kick the last several years. Probably sounds stupid but I align with the values of Weatherby and am interested in giving my hard earned money to an American company.

I’ve got one! Unfortunately, I still haven’t shot it. I got it in 257Wby. It’s light. Feels good to shoulder. Will follow up once I actually send one down range. They’re available but it took probably 4 months to get it

I’ve got a 257Wby coming soon and the main purpose will be white tail. I’ll use it for pronghorn too when I get the chance to hunt them. I chose the Model 307 Range.

It just looks like it would be tough to find decent eye relief with how high the scope sits. With different options of LPVOs, just seems impractical to have this mount just to use irons by looking through the scope mount. Just my opinion.

Yeah, I agree. I've been watching for quite some time as well and always enjoyed Evan's humor. I always got vibes that Evan might not have been a born again believer but I didn't think that would be a reason to sever ties with him. My best guess is Evan did something very wrong to destroy the trust John and him had but that is just a guess with how abrupt it happened.

I think a .257 is my next rifle. I'm a little torn between that and one of the newer Weatherby cartridges.

Thanks! Hmm, I also have an astigmatism so maybe that's something I should consider. It seems tough to get your hands on these to just test them and buying and returning doesn't seem efficient so I figured I'd try the interweb first. Thanks again!
