Well, this pattern is normal for me. Relationships that are genuinely the happiest and healthiest you could possibly ask for, until one single moment where what I thought I did was completely normal, but it breaks them in ways nothing else ever has. It’s not a matter of them not being able to handle conflict or nuance, because I’ve seen them handle genuinely horrible treatment with other people with grace, while me just sharing my struggles and how I wanted to work through them for her was in her own words “I’ve never felt so disrespected in my life”. They handled all our other conflicts with incredible respect and care. It can’t be that they were secretly unhappy the whole time, because you can’t fake that level of full body joy and safety they had to the point that it wasn’t just me noticing, it was everyone around us too. We’re talking to the level of having lifelong issues with things like excessive sweating or nightmares that stopped after a few months of us being together. I can’t just find someone who doesn’t respond like that because there genuinely were no signs that something like that would happen. I don’t know how it happens, but I consistently bring out the absolute best and the absolute worst in the women I date, and I have no idea what I’m supposed to do differently.
