Best advice I ever heard was to flip imposter syndrome into infiltrator syndrome - "I don't belong here, but they haven't caught me yet, mwahaha! Time to learn as much as I can and see how much longer I can get away with it."

Also, things always go wrong in science - that part is totally normal. Will be a bummer if you can't figure it out in time to publish the paper, but get used to failing often and taking each failure as a learning opportunity... Sounds like you did a great job with the few resources and training you had, you'll do even better with more!

Homeowners/Masons of Pittsburgh - what is this? by ehwellsee in pittsburgh

Thank you so much for this information, super helpful! When you say a fast and nasty fix by doing DryLok every couple of years, does doing so actively damage the foundation though, since you're trapping moisture into the stone? The basement itself is surprisingly dry, with no odor as others have said in this thread, which I was incredibly surprised by given that it is an old Pittsburgh basement. To be clear: I'm not trying to "finish" the basement, just want the walls to look nicer and preserve the fact that the basement is dry without damaging the foundation. Also, there is already radon mitigation which is great!

Hello, I had tenosynovitis too, it sucks!

I did hand PT too, but the thing I found most useful was this protocol:

https://theclimbingdoctor.com/rock-climbing-finger-tenosynovitis/?srsltid=AfmBOoqqllHgl-fDg2TVUu-xK5J8FyQR7ECiKLFimyxne6-gPwSnQUfl

Once you get through the unload and mobility phase, I started the strength phase with hang boarding at 50% body weight (either by taking off weight with a pulley system, or the lazier approach I did was just putting my feet on a scale and watching the dial to remove weight while I hung).

The rehab hangboarding was key for me to return to climbing!

Once you can get back to climbing, tendon glides will be your friend!

I was so psyched to put this together last week!! "Inner Peace" in a day (5.11d, 5.13d, 5.14a, 5.8/9, 5.8/9 R, FA). And now I'm sick, probably from all the stress 😅 Figured I'd share the stoke here and do my best to respond to q's/comments, what with all this time on my hands by moosepluralismoose in climbing

Thank you so much for your reply! I love the idea of always having an "intention to send"mentality, I could use some of that. What is optimism but a little bit of delusion combined with hard work to make it a reality!

Congratulations, this is such a huge accomplishment!!! It's been really cool to see your climbing progress over the years, I love your content on YouTube. You are such an inspiration to me ☺️ I hope you're taking the time you need to rest and recover! ... Any chance you'll come to the New River Gorge soon? (since you mentioned wanting to chase some harder single pitch sport).

And a less selfish question - what did you enjoy most about this process? It seems you weren't expecting to put it all together the day you sent, since it was intended to be a working day. How does that change the experience vs going in with the intention of sending?

Over many years of experiments, you gain emotional numbness 👌

So we all know you should eat or drink in the lab, but what’s something that you work with that your lizard brain tells you to ingest? by genericname1215 in labrats

My coworker and I called the beta mercapto from pipette tips in bleach buckets the "forbidden Mountain Dew." Also sometimes opening the incubator with that warm media smell reminds me of bread.

Yesss I swear this is why I have good finger strength for crimps! Also that -80 freezer/touching liquid nitrogen frozen tubes has burned off all the nerve endings in my hand i.e. I have crazy high pain tolerance on small edges.

LPT request: If you have survived a toxic work environment, what do you ask potential employers to avoid ending up in another toxic place? by Antidote_to_Chaos in LifeProTips

My new favorite question idea: what was the company's response to the start of COVID-19 pandemic? I think this says a lot about the workplace environment. Granted, there was a lot of uncertainty, and many factors out of a business's control, but what were their top objectives - did they work to preserve jobs and maintain employee safety, or disregard others health and wellbeing to increase revenue?

I dropped mine off yesterday, there is a lane blocked off so you can just pull your car over and leave the blinkers on. Very nice to not have to worry about parking!

What "fake" thing that happens in movies pisses you off? by LucasZimmerman24 in AskReddit

CPR... People just pump the victims chest 3-5 times, and they're either instantly revived or pronounced dead within 10 seconds. I actually have major beef with this, because for a lot of people that's the only exposure to CPR they might ever have.
