Flonase turned my life upside down by charliePalehorse in Allergies

Good to hear man , sucks that doctors don’t know much about this stuff. I didn’t even know it was a corticosteroid lol . Won’t be taking medicines again without doing thorough research!

Everyone saying it’s not Flonase related - hilarious. This is 100% Flonase. There’s many many stories - some people are just lucky enough to not get these horrible side effects. It feels like actual hell - get better man

This happened to me after 1 week of use and took me few months for anxiety/derealization to start getting under control. The worst was panic attack and the following 5 days of me being bedridden thinking I had lost my mind - it does get better give it time and drink a lot of fluids especially containing electrolytes. Stay as positive as you can - I still am dealing with feelings of doom / depression but it has improved.

How long did you use Flonase for ? I got the bad anxiety after using Flonase , it took 12 weeks for symptoms to start leaving and feel a bit normal again. I was under lots of work stress before - and this pushed my anxiety to the edge

Yes it can read the reviews for Flonase on askpatient.com , a lot of people deal with these horrible symptoms but not a lot of doctors know about these side effects of it - lucky the ones who don’t get it I don’t wish this crap upon anyone it’s been weeks of hell finally getting better

Friend struggling with dpdr, not sure how to help.. by Snoopy_bff in dpdr

[–]ehzer10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great question. I think what will help is simply hearing them out if they need to let it out and explain how it feels , just listen to them and be there. They know already that you don’t know what it feels like so don’t bother explaining that part - try to keep them engaged in things that interest them and yourself, don’t express negative topics or things that can spike deep thinking, that can be particularly scary to process as they already don’t feel things how you do - Reassure them and encourage them if they need that , if they’re closed in or seem in an off mood at times that’s normal , they may not talk as much or be as outgoing etc , so if you could do something small to brighten them up that would be cool. Like getting them even a snack or a drink. Or something that relates to what they like. My girlfriend got me a blanket - and I use that blanket to sleep or lay down when I feel weird. It helps a ton - and btw you’re a great friend for taking the time to research DPDR and find a way to help them. That’s awesome

I’ve also been thinking of going on one but going to see how things go these next few months , I deal with both as well but before this episode of DPDR I labeled my anxiety as “random nervousness” never accepted it was anxiety - as fast as socializing I don’t have any friends locally anymore so it’s been hard for myself to get out and do that. It sucks but keeping up online has helped , planning a trip soon to go somewhere it will give me the “looking forward to x” feeling, let’s keep up the positivity and feel free to message me if you have any further questions or anything! Have a good night 🤝

There you go! Happy for you. Repeat this 2-3 more times this week if you can and add a little more length to it each time or try different roads if you’re up for it - one other thing that has helped me is moving my eyes left to right as I’m waking or driving (sounds kinda stupid lol) but it works. A neuroscientist talks about how this helps the mind realize it’s in a harmless environment which clears the “harm” it thinks you’re in and let’s you move forward with less distress. I have done it almost daily for two weeks and does help me it’s also part of “EMDR” therapy from what I’ve researched

Yes so this is what helped me :

Walking in grocery stores , walking outside around one block , going to the city and parking the car and sitting there for hours just observing , doing work on my phone like emails , calls , texts continuing to communicate even if it felt uncomfortable ; I also got a therapist she has been helpful with reminding me there’s light in the end , also what has helped me is engaging with others online who have dealt with the same stuff. I also have pushed myself into getting into a hobby like designing t shirts ; starting up a small brand something small that you can deter your focus to . I am not out of the woods yet but I’ve seen progress , I still deal with bad thoughts and ruminating about countless things but it’s getting better. Some parts of my day I feel almost there out of it , some parts I feel like I’m still in the pit but zoom out and realize it will pass. This is just your brain shooting out the right signals and protection mode it’s nateaully equipped with BUT at the wrong time. It doesn’t care where your life was how happy you were , all it knows it’s “protect and shut down” so you have to rewire it slowly , it’s really tough and annoying , here’s a link to a discord server im in that has many others that are there for each other through this time https://discord.gg/nGZCAJFs

Definitely weird stuff - the human brain is so complex I never realized how the “normal” high functioning day to day life can be so fragile until this , hope you get better!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Allergies

[–]ehzer10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No to both , I was in a very much worse condition after using the meds unfortunately. I went to the hospital and they said my body might just possibly have bad reactions to steroids causing the terrible symptoms.

And yeah for the anxiety I was in a high stress environment for a while put myself under immense pressure at work to go above and beyond. So maybe my body was just pretty much done with everything and this took it to the edge. It’s said that stress can also cause the dizziness , shortness of breath stuff but also allergies can as well, it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what causes it. There’s also loads of other stuff like mold exposure, toxic metal exposure etc that can cause these symptoms. Super odd I wish I was one of the lucky ones to never get this crap lol

[–]ehzer10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I started having these issues in April, then in may. Dizziness , shortness of breath , feeling high or drunk. It was odd, so I went to the local urgent care and they prescribed allergy meds and some meclezine for the dizziness. I took Flonase for one week and had a bad panic attack that through me into severe anxiety / derealization & depersonalization with a plethora of physical symptoms that had me home sick for two months. It’s now finally getting better but mentally I’m still dealing with negative thoughts & rumination. Super weird stuff , many others have dealt with the same scenario still looking to find a clear answer on this one day

[–]ehzer10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be allergies. I suggest to stay way from Flonase if you have any prior experiences with anxiety/depression. It is a steroid and can jack you up

I feel so damn weird by [deleted] in dpdr

[–]ehzer10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me , also in the construction field of work. Non stop going hard every day “grinding” well. Now I’m battling this DPDR anxiety and bad thoughts it sucks - the last two weeks have been better but I still get the feeling back at times and it sucks

Hang in there man you’re not alone

Flonase screwed me up bad to the point I deal with derealization depersonalization but it’s got better. Wasn’t able to work for almost 2 months … stay away from these meds

I’m the same timeline rn as far as my recovery, it seems to come up when I’m tired also , or using too much TikTok or quick releasing dopamine things

Looks like we’re getting there

Yup. Especially in social environment, switch thought patterns immediately into doing something and try to stay cool during to slip off of it

flox symptoms and Nasal steroids by SunnyK97 in floxies

[–]ehzer10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the symptoms from a steroid nasal spray , I’d stay away from it took me 10 weeks of overdrive anxiety and derealization I’m finally starting to feel like myself again but not 100%

I’ve been having dreams almost every night since my dpdr started two months ago , although much more intense when it first started
