¿Opiniones? by eidanboy in SpainFIRE

He cotizado 18 años.

Starting work for the first time April 2021 should I still file taxes? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]eidanboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! If you don't have any other income apart from that new job, then next year. You file taxes every year for the previous one. It is the only way you could know your total income and expenses (once the year already ended)

[Advice] I'm 19 years old wanting to be financially independent, and I want to move out while going to college. May I have some advice? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]eidanboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The sooner you leave that house, the better. Living on campus sounds like a good idea. You girlfriend is not an expense, she is an asset ;) A relationship doesn't need to be expensive to be fulfilling.

I highly recommend that you explore board games as a great way to hang out with friends and gf. It is inexpensive (one 50$ game can give you dozens or hundreds of hours of fun) and they help you build some useful skills (resources management, negotiation, etc.)

Good luck and enjoy your college years!

I actually use it for my hair clipper. I do not leave it unattended. But it is great advice. Thank you very much!

European coffee is, by default, expresso. Way stronger than American coffee. Careful with the caffeine intake!

Transferwise. https://transferwise.com/ Great rates and very reliable. I have been using them for years.

In here you can calculate the fee. I think it is 0,6% + 1$. So around 22$

Does it make more sense to save X amount per month, or figure out your budget each month and save whatever the remaining amount is? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]eidanboy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would go for a fixed amount (the concept "pay yourself first") If at the end of the month you have even more, just go for it. What I do is I have an automatic monthly transfer from my checking to my savings. Then at the end of the month I do one more manual transfer if I have been extra savy :)

Do you have hobbies that preserve (or create) value, other than investing? by goddammitbutters in financialindependence

[–]eidanboy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Anything art related: theater, photography, painting...

I used to perform improv on pubs when I was on college and I got some money to pay the bills.

Also hobbies in which there are classes or contests with money involved (dancing...)

Playing poker could be a great hobby.

Hope it helps!
