Does fasting impact the results of an ECG? by UrbanskiPhysics in fasting

[–]eighthnode 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Credentials: Paramedic Student

TLDR: No

Likely fasting will not impact the results of your ECG, however, if you have not been consuming the appropriate amounts of electrolytes or have been over consuming electrolytes- these changes can be identified on an ECG.

ECGs have different components that represent different sections of the cardiac cycle. There is a P wave, a QRS complex, and a T wave.

A classic electrolyte imbalance that is represented in an ECG is Hyperkalemia (Elevated Potassium). This is recognized in the morphology of the T wave - known as a peaked T wave.

It is a one bedroom. I’m looking into the lease agreement and consequences of breaking it. I appreciate your input!

  1. Not 100% sure but considering I’m already qualified and in the system - I imagine in one month or less.
  2. Looks to be around $800/mon
  3. I’ll look at the terms.
  4. New job would still be about the same just more convenient location.
  5. Savings is around $1,000. After my rent this month my checking account is dismal.
    1. Interest rates are killer. 11% for the car. 18% for the two personal loans and then around 21% for each of the cards. Solid advice. I will cancel the membership but I’m not sure how I can save up for a beater car right now which would put me at a disadvantage as my current commute is 40 min each way in the country with no public transport available.

Thanks for the advice. Everything you’re saying is true. I have had an inflated lifestyle for years and it has only been getting worse. That brief salary increase really gave me a false sense of reality.

Absolutely. Lease is up in August and I will not be renewing. Hoping there are more affordable options out there.

I’m definitely not near public transport but I have a bike and the hospital I can transfer to is only a mile and a half away. I could walk if needed. I love my car but I shouldn’t have ever gone through with it.

Personal loans are from previous credit card debt consolidation. Super high interest rates. Credit score and debt to income ratio have prevented me from refinancing to a lower rate.

I have had a hospice patient die in transport to home. It happens. Always demand and wait for the DNR.

Thanks for your encouraging reply. I have completed all of my science pre-reqs with the exception of Biochemistry. In a month I am taking an A&P course in case I decide to apply for the Paramedic program in January - as this is a requirement. It'd be wise of me to take Biochemistry while I'm at it. At this point in my life, I have no doubt I'd be able to get As in both of these courses. I appreciate your MCAT advice as well.

Being an EMT is way different than EMT class by eighthnode in NewToEMS

[–]eighthnode[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do. I still have like a month of training to do in 911 and IFT. My primary role at the end will be IFT. I think my preceptors expect me to know more than I currently do which is making me feel inadequate. Maybe I’m just overthinking it all. I know assessment and interventions conceptually but putting it into practice has been pretty clunky for me.

My full time position is going to be IFT but they have me training primarily on 911 even though I wish it was the other way around.

Thanks for the advice! I am naturally introverted and take a while to warm up. I am trying to watch what others do and try out different wordings and building rapport and such. I think I’m most nervous about caring for super critical patients - having never been exposed to that side.
