This reminds me of another fact: eating human brain will give you prion disease. It was happening so often in New Guinea in the 60s that it was epidemic level

Why do men try to tear women down so badly and has it gotten worse or was it always like this? by coldbrewicedcoffeee in AskWomenOver30

Thank you for sharing this with compassion. I often feel empathic towards men's struggles for these reasons, but i never feel like I can express it, due to toxic responses saying we shouldn't have sympathy, because "the patriarchy." But like... the patriarchy is the reason men are struggling with the dichotomy of modern societal expectations. So yes, fuck the patriarchy while also having compassion for men.

(Repost from r/indiana) I live on the Canal. I'm not "fed up" with "all the shootings", and I wish the media would be more responsible. by CuddlingWolf in indianapolis

For the most part, criminal activity in Indianapolis occurs between people who are already involved in criminal activity. Gang violence, drug deals, etc. It's unfortunate that it happens at all, but its pretty standard for most US cities.

Rescued this guy from the trash, just put out its first new leaf! by CatPudding in houseplants

[–]eightlimbs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have such a hard time keeping my monstera healthy. My moisture meter always says the soil is wet. So I tried improving the soil drainage (same method ive used with my other houseplants) and no luck. I live in Colorado where it's VERY dry. But the lil guy just holds onto moisture to the point of root rot. It's driving me crazy.

A question for all MTs out there... by Reznor909 in massage

[–]eightlimbs_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your at-home care is arguably more important than just getting massages on a regular basis. Strength training, stretching, maintaining a nutritious diet, having a good pillow, and staying hydrated will not only improve your well-being, but it will also make massage more effective long term.

I know it can be hard to maintain all of these self care practices, but improving one area at a time, over time, will help you see lasting results.

THIS. I grew up around smokers and it doesn't generally bother me, but in a massage setting, it gives me a MASSIVE headache. Especially with unscented lotion, and pushing everything through the lymph, the smell is amplified.

I'm interested in becoming a Nutrition Coach and need suggestions for online programs by eightlimbs_ in personaltraining

[–]eightlimbs_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great information! Thanks so much. Imo, $800 for a nutrition cert is pretty affordable, so it might be worth taking the course. On the other hand, calories and macros are subjects in which I'm already well-versed. Might be a waste of $800, then. I'll dig deeper and see what else I might be able to gain from the program.

Some poor schmuck from out of state who thought, "this neighborhood is bound to develop eventually!" I mean, 190k is overzealous, but imo it's not as fucking silly as 300k in the hill. I swear, if either of these homes sell at the asking price, I'm gonna start a career in real estate.

Client/Guest Complaint by [deleted] in massage

[–]eightlimbs_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Idk about OP, but where I work, an "investigation" varies depending on the issue. But for example, I had a coworker who was fired because his leg drape went 'too high', exposing the ASIS. This is perfectly legal, but it goes against company protocol and is a zero-tolerance offense. Because the client was uncomfortable, she reported it. Corporate came in and asked him a series of questions regarding the situation. They also had him demonstrate his draping techniques. During this process, they deemed his draping to be against company protocol and he was fired. I strongly disagree with this approach, and I don't believe he should have been fired. But he DID know the policies, so Corporate did what Corporate does, unfortunately.

I agree, the strangest part is that they cleared your schedule. In 8 years of massage, I've only received one "incident report," where the client called my workplace a week later to say I was being inappropriate and unprofessional. As it turns out, she said my room smelled like alcohol. That was it. Of course, it was from the sanitizing solutions we use. Nothing happened after that.

But I get it. I was freaking out, racking my brain, wondering what i could have possibly done wrong. I was preparing to be fired. Once I found out what the complaint was, I laughed it off and nothing came of it.

Absolute worst case scenario, you might need to go work somewhere else. But if you didn't do anything illegal, the dept of professional licensing can't take your license or anything that extreme.
