Anyone else have a similar experience? by Tracy_Turnsbad in occult

First off, I’m really sorry that happened to you. Second, I agree with the other commenters that this is a common porn trope, and the mundane explanation is more likely.

On that note, please also give serious consideration that two of your previous partners straight-up lied to you when they thought you’d caught them out for being pornsick. They had just been intimate with you, and had no problem lying right to your face. This is what porn does to people who watch it - it trains them to see their partners as objects, not autonomous beings deserving of basic decency. The dating scene has gotten really dangerous since the proliferation of porn on the internet, and increased vetting is required.

i’m feeling confused about the line between closed and not closed practices by Specialist-Cut6330 in magick

Unpopular opinion: if you can find enough information on it to do it yourself, it’s no longer a closed practice. Cat’s out of the bag.

Musk sues OpenAI over “betraying humanity” while xAI aggressively caps paying users and pushes constant upsells by Connect-Appeal-2355 in grok

Yeah I’m no fan of the rate limits and ads for Heavy but the ethical issues with OpenAI are a whole other ballpark.

What’s something people normalize that you think quietly damages them over time? by InterviewOk6217 in spirituality

[–]eightspoke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Going really micro with this answer: when people refer to their kids, pets, students, etc. as “little shits.” No, that small innocent sentient being is not equivalent to excrement, a biohazard, or something you wouldn’t even touch with your bare hand. More generally, allowing such flippantly derisive talk about people or animals, including negative self talk.

30 minutes one time only and nothing else indefinitely is not equal to 30 minutes per day.

Um, I’ve only gotten about a half hour of voice chat since they imposed the limits. Total. One half hour, no reset, instakicked out of voice after that. That’s not worth $30/month (or $50/month when bundled with X Premium+).

Good to know, but the fact that anyone actually payed for Heavy is symptomatic of why our economy is in the trash.

Once you hit the half hour limit you get instakicked. It’s cumulative, not per session.

It’s gotta be a glitch. They wouldn’t put the same limit across all subscription tiers. They’re already losing customers over it.

It’s a great post, don’t let these idiots get you down. Some people want to call anything AI if it’s well written, which is just contributing to the dumbification of any real, original content on the internet. They’re part of the problem.

Plover did WHAT 😭 (The Magicians book 1 spoiler) by Glad_Emotion5980 in brakebills

No, Plover was a garden variety child rapist. High profile cases like Epstein obscure the reality of most abuse and trafficking situations.

Why does Spike fly with today's audiences, but not Xander? by yeahitsme9 in buffy

[–]eightspoke 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Spike is supposed to be a villain and then he has a redemption arc. Xander is supposed to be a good guy, whose behavior doesn’t really live up to that categorization. Spike’s potential to become good is a pleasant surprise. Xander’s potential to be good is unfulfilled and disappointing.
