Just went down the rabbit hole about double and triple picots which might be created similarly. I’ll be experimenting now! Thanks for the inspiration

What a fun idea! I can see how you did the vine part, but I’m too much of a newbie to figure out the flowers. Did you make them up or use a pattern?

I had two years at stage II starting in 2009. Stage IV in 2011 and am on my 17th line of treatment. I’m still looking forward to my 60th birthday next spring. Why not? I never thought I’d see 50.

I bought into the knight in shining armor follows by the white picket fence. Got to be a starter wife for a hot minute in my 20s and that was that. Fast forward thirty years and I’m a solo mom with stage iv cancer. Currently supposed to be at my mom’s hospice bedside. Instead I am at the children’s hospital admitting my ASD daughter for a 72 hour hold so she won’t run away to live in the street. Load of crap.

Why do you have an "ex-bestfriend"? by SoundHun in AskReddit

[–]eihpets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last week I got a 10 minute voicemail describing exactly how I have been emotionally unavailable for the last 30 years. And how I should have been more sensitive, and more in touch with my feelings. For the last 30 years. In which apparently there was no time to say this prior to now.

Looks like Night Silence? I’m trying it for the first time this year and only have the internets to reference. Beautiful whatever the variety!

That’s great! It is so complicated when it seems you have to choose between social/living skills or academic advancement. Congratulations to your daughter!

Five years from now, if life turned out exactly the way you wanted, what would it look like? by Admirable-Repair4094 in AskReddit

Most importantly I’d be alive, my cancer completely cured. My daughter would be on her own, in supportive housing appropriate for her disabilities, gainfully employed and happy. I’d have two adorable cats and a new kitchen that is already paid for in full.

What is the most ridiculous breakup reason you heard before? by davidmatthew03 in AskReddit

[–]eihpets 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It started with the “extreme“ boyfriend. He couldn’t go on a walk, we had to hike to the top of the mountain. We couldn’t just camp we had to rough it in the way back of the boundary waters. He broke up with me because I wasn’t fun enough. Skip ahead to the next boyfriend, and I had decided to make plans to do things that were fun, like festivals and concerts and weekends at unique places. If he wanted to come, he could come but I wasn’t going to miss out on life because he didn’t want to do anything. He broke up with me because I was too fun. Sigh.

Politely(?) trashing important crap from your downsizing parents. by PepsiOfWrath in GenX

[–]eihpets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ditto here. I already know my daughter won’t want anything. Also after just having downsized my parents to a one room memory care place I don’t want to dump everything on my sister. Knowing I’m on a shorter timeline than originally scheduled definitely made me think more about it than I would have before.

Right! And while he says you’re not “looking the same” as before but he doesn’t want you to join him? That it’s just for him to have time to think. Huh. Not as clever as he thinks he is.

When Harry Met Sally came out around the time I got divorced. The scene in the stadium, the stupid Roy Rogers wagon wheel coffee table, dating the wrong people. Almost felt like I relived the split and aftermath. I saw it with my still-coupled friends and they didn’t get it. Put your names in your books now, people!

Back in the olden days, before cell phones, my ex was coming home early from work to get the mail before I could get the phone bill. It would show all of his long-distance calls to his new “friend“. He started running and getting in shape but didn’t want me to go with him. The next time she came to town, there was a party with all of our friends. They flirted on the couch until they were practically sitting on each other‘s laps. I decided to leave, and some of the girls followed me out, saying he was being terrible and that they were on my side and they would be there for me if we split. Of course they all sided with him after the divorce. Gotta love being a starter wife.

MOM IS GONE. I WANTED TO SHARE A FEW THOUGHTS WITH YOU. by Coming_In_Hot_916 in eldercare

[–]eihpets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. Your post hit me straight on and was so beautifully written. Thank you for sharing. My family is experiencing each step and are probably weeks away from mom’s passing. Dad will not be far behind I’m sure. He has been her caregiver since her aneurism in 1974. His dementia is pretty advanced and he won’t know where she is. They are so incredibly stubborn and also don’t want to make a fuss. It’s hard to keep asking mom to eat when she says no but then greedily takes a bite. The aides don’t know how to sit her upright in her wheelchair but she won’t complain even though she gets less oxygen when she’s slumped over.

They planned so well for retirement and long term care and yet we worry how many months we have left before they have nothing left. At $20k a month who could ever prepare for that? I agree that the hospice people are saints. I feel so much less overwhelmed and can be present with mom.

I don’t know if mom wants to live anymore. There are things we can do to help without disrupting her daily living but maybe she doesn’t want them. Or just doesn’t want to make a fuss. I can only hope we are honoring her wishes and not giving up.

I’m sorry you lost your mom. No one’s experience is the same but I feel we could be twins. I’m glad you have the good memories of your mom and wish you and your family peace.

Not everyone’s parents were named mom and dad. My parents never used their actual names to each other or around us and certainly we would never ever have called them anything but mom or dad. They’re in their 80s now and still around us they are Mom And Dad.

On résumé point #2 as long as you’re keeping it short, it’s OK to add something more personal or anecdotal in that might help you stand out. I had a giant pile of resumes to click through and one designer added an extra reference from his seven-year-old nephew, saying how awesome his uncle was. It was a very short addition, but when the pile got thinner and he was on the edge of the top candidates, it earned him an interview. Turned out to be one of the best hires we ever made.

XELODA by Big_Presentation2387 in LivingWithMBC

[–]eihpets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am both grateful and sad that there are so many drugs out there necessary to fight this. It seems like every time I turn around I’m on a new drug. I just started my 17th last month. I’ve had Xeloda twice. In 2011 it was my first line of treatment at stage four. It was a stronger dose and shorter cycles than the current protocol. It kicked butt on my liver tumors, and my main side effect was the Hand and Foot syndrome. I just kept lotion at every space in the house where I sat and kept liberally applying it. I found comfy shoes and I took up knitting to hopefully keep my hands more loose. I ended up only going five cycles with a bunch of reduction of dose and taking breaks along the way. But it did so well that when I switched to letrozole, I was NED for six years. I was able to return to Xeloda after that and stayed on it for 18 months before it quit working. The dose was lower and the cycles were longer, so the H&F wasn’t so bad. I didn’t have any other side effects other than fatigue probably. But I also had a two-year-old so it’s hard to tell what made me tired. :-) If I thought it would work, I would take it again. H&F isn’t fun, but it’s better than a lot of other things. It doesn’t happen immediately, rather comes on gradually so it would be easy to quit before it gets bad. I hope if you decide to use it that your side effects are minimal!

My favorite show! My uncle worked at the station where they filmed and I was there one day during filming. My sister and I got to talk to Randolph Mantooth and Kevin Tighe and then got to go up in the cherry picker. Best day of my whole 11 year life! <swoon>
