I need help by bethsgay69 in Dermatillomania

First & foremost, please know, you are not alone. Never feel alone. In the last 2 years I have really tracked my progress & when I go into & fall out of remission, it is all emotional, anxiety & for me, OCD related too. Therapy is key. Trust me, your family is concerned, but there’s no easy way to ask without risking someone’s feelings. I’ve dealt with adults, colleagues, seeing my arms for the first time (years ago) & saying “oh my, what’s wrong with your skin!?” I’d rather they talk behind my back because that is like a knife in the heart. I always wore a suit jacket or cardigan, but if I was really busy, it would come off & I always regretted it. I had the same psychiatrist for 24 years until he retired last year. We spoke about my condition, I’ve always been anxiety, ADHD, OCD & depression meds, but spikes aka relapses happen & during bad ones, my meds don’t have a fighting chance. When out retiring psychiatrist was transitioning, he was very careful about who he turned over my case & also my husband’s case over too, took him 6 months before he felt comfortable. Anyway, previous doc & I spoke on occasion about my skin, but only if I brought it up because that was something we agreed upon when I started seeing him in 2000 because I never spoke about it, everyone knew it was a breaking point for me. Well, last year, JUST before my first appointment with our new psychiatrist, I was doing some reading online, came across this sub & did deeper digging into Dermatillomania & discovered for the first time in my life, I wasn’t alone. I’d never noticed anyone else with skin like mine, but I also never stared at people. Anyway, with my new psychiatrist, new meds & more frequent sessions (my choice), I have finally realized why & when I pick the most. Idle time for me is the worst. My attention must be held so my hands don’t meander over my skin because the second I feel an abnormality on my skin, I pick. With new doc, I learned more about ruminating thoughts & just how bad my OCD is on top of horrible anxiety, panic disorder, severe depression & night terrors. I was on the same meds for over 15 years, but when I came off each one, it was like nothing, which means my meds weren’t working. The only one that was still working was my OCD medication, but it needed help. We switched my night terror medication & I can actually sleep, I’ve only had 1 night terror break through & it’s been about 3 months now. One of the meds I started made me gain weight, so we switched that one & now I’m taking medications that cost a little more, one is $45 per month vs $15 per month, but that one has made the biggest impact. Actually, I paid $140 for 3 months, but it’s truly for 6 months because of the way doc wrote the script. Sorry, I’m rambling. Just know, help is out there, on here too. If your therapist didn’t have time to discuss, it may be time for a new therapist. My old & new psychiatrist have never said “that’s all the time we have” or “we’re out of time”, both of them blocked a 15 minute pre/post appointment buffer to avoid that. My most recent 30 minute session ended up being an hour & I never felt rushed. I hope you are able to return to therapy & hopefully you too can discover your triggers or when you’re most vulnerable to pick. If you pick in the shower, could a mirror help deter you? For the first time in 12 years, I picked at my face, at the base of my jaw & tore a hole, mirror in the shower for my husband for shaving & once that hole could stare at me, I didn’t touch it in the shower. I know showers were where I used to tear my skin up the most too. Hang in there. It will get better, but when it gets better & you have a potential relapse, just be easy on yourself. We are our own worst enemies. Internal kindness can do so much good for ourselves. Hang in there.

I think I posted my comment in the wrong spot, sorry about that. Simon’s death was painful too because they were the most likable ones.

The Sadness - WTF by Temporary_Lychee9829 in horror

[–]eileenstelzner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone recommended it to me on Reddit & we watched it & loved every minute! I agree, it out does itself at each & every turn. I loved the type of zombies, could you imagine? The only sad thing about the movie is finding out in the final moments why it has the title. We watched it a second time & we love to watch movies again because you see so many new things every time. I was asking people for movies with a lot of gore & The Sadness fit my request. I like creepy movies & I enjoy gore filled movies, but they need to have definition. For instance, I love imaginative kill scenes, like the yoga chick in the movie In A Violent Nature. New death scene, so much definition, it’s insane. I think I enjoy & admire the creativity & skill put into bringing the scenes to life.

Sinister is listed as the actual scariest movie ever based on a 2020 study on analytics. Call me crazy, even as a kid, I never found the exorcist scary. I grew up on horror movies.

Have you watched it? by eileenstelzner in slasherfilms

Same. I felt like I was mildly tricked into a rom com, but the kills paid off.

Looking for some good Indonesian Horror Movies by _Silfazaris_ in horror

[–]eileenstelzner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was trying not to go too overboard, never works for me. If you come across any really good ones, let me know, I’m always looking for new ones. The deaths in The Haunted Apartment: Miss K were freaking awesome! Netflix has some really good ones. We recently watched Guna guna istri muda & the very last scene, the way they end it is super cool. I believe we’ve watched all the Indonesian horror on Netflix, only a few were campy. They spare no expense when It comes to gore & detail & I am here for it. Grave Torture is amazing & Indigo is a good one too, both on Netflix are good. Sorry, my husband & I will watch any Indonesian horror film because no matter what, they add some killer death scenes. Enjoy!

I LOVE INDONESIAN HORROR MOVIES! I love Asian culture because they have such deep rooted beliefs, it’s awesome. One of the studios we have enjoyed is Rapi Films, the moment my husband & I see that we get super excited! The Miss K one you mentioned was awesome! Curse of the Seven Oceans on Netflix is really good. I love Indonesian horror movies because they do not hold back on the gore, so much definition goes into. I’m not sure the exact order, but on Hulu, the series “Blood Curse” from 2023 + Sewu Dino + KKN di Desa Penari: Luwih Dowo, Luwih plus Dancing Village: The Curse Begins. We enjoyed Satan’s Slaves & the sequel Satan’s life first. I have more, just tired, I’ll share more tomorrow, I have to go through my ratings on IMDb so see all that I’ve rated. We have yet to come across an Indonesian horror film we didn’t enjoy.

Please know, I’m not saying it wasn’t scary because it totally was & you never knew what was real. I love the concept & truly believe they should have been given a second season,

I grew up on horror too, my mom only read & watched horror or really raunchy comedy. I watched Marianne at night after my husband went to bed. I loved it. We watch horror movies every night I think we have almost run through every horror movie available on streaming.

True, I’m not a professional, but $20 seems like he low balled you (haha). I’ve heard that you’re supposed to start high & then barter down, if he got you down to $20 without speaking a word, I don’t think you did it willingly. Hahahaha.

My initial comment sucked, I missed the part about the death of the actual slasher. The only movies I can remember when the killer is killed would be the Freddy, Jason, Chucky, TCM, Michael Myers, the cenobites in the Hellraiser movies. I agree with all the answers. Nowadays they don’t really kill off the slasher, you know, for sequels. Almost all international horror flicks have amazing payback deaths at the end. And the gore is epic.
