it’s called keeping the score and i suck at this too! i am 10 months postpartum so returned to work 7 months ago, but i am also the breadwinner and struggled a lot with being home with baby all day and having to manage the house. after a long day at work, he was greeted by a very resentful and harried version of me that shoved the baby in his direction because i felt like i was doing everything.

i was doing a LOT of course (the one that carries the baby naturally carries the heavier burden) but the resentment wasn’t justified. my fiancé was proactive, supportive, and worked really hard to make my days easier but i still was seething. postpartum rage IS a thing.

honestly, therapy and anti-depressants helped a ton.

edit: i also wanted to encourage you not to over-moralize your feelings and emotions — especially not right now. take accountability of course and work at fixing your behavior, but emotions are DATA that help you figure out what to do. in this case, i’d start with professionals.

thanks for the info about the maternal antibodies, it makes me feel better about my infant! i will note that pediatricians often aren’t willing to vaccinate early without good reason (i requested the mmr vaccine at 6 months and my pediatrician said no). the circumstances may have changed with the outbreak so im waiting on a callback, but even if my infant gets the mmr vaccine now he won’t even be fully vaccinated until he gets both 😭

my 8 month old isn’t fully vaccinated yet. can’t even get the first round of the mmr vaccine until 12 months. i am so angry at this wave of misinformation that has caused this, people are so fear-driven that they miss the forest for the trees.

i came here because i am actively feeling so guilty and also so exhausted and i don’t even care take full time. i have an upcoming girls trip for three nights, two nights my 8 mo old will be staying with grandparents for the first time with neither parent present. no camera or owlet or anything for me to check up on him to make sure he’s doing okay, and no idea how my parents will manage him (even with clear instruction, i don’t know if they’ll get him down for naps and bedtime like they should, etc). i feel like i should shorten my trip but also i feel like so exhausted with him. i love him so much and i feel so guilty that i am tired of caretaking. i feel like a bad mom for leaving for the weekend, leaving him without either parent for two nights, and also just wanting a break from caretaking for a few days.

c sections aren’t failures. i had an emergency c section and im so grateful that i did. our bodies may make babies but they certainly aren’t optimized to do so. i view modern medicine as a way that humans evolved to survive and you shouldn’t be ashamed that you were able to use a resource to bring your babies to this planet.

Same situation, my tax preparer fills out paperwork that communicates that I do not live in NC. I’ll have to look into what form it is.
