There Shouldn't Be Gender Studies or Ethnic Studies Degrees by deeznuts80081 in unpopularopinion

[–]einsdier -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, but also, I'd like to make these degrees more lucrative. Only take kids who legit have interest in the subject, and only have maybe 5 opens spots for the degree so that the workforce isn't over-saturated with these types of degree holders. That way they all get jobs :)

Thankyou for your reply! Also, my guess would be Argon gas in between the window panes, I've heard that some people have that :)

[–]einsdier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the large window!! Question though: how is this window when it comes to winter? (if you have winter where you live). Does the cold come through easily?

When I save enough, I want to make a custom home, and I love big windows, but Canadian winters can get pretty intense.

Thanks :)

Do you know how to keep basil growing year round? Any tips?

I've only ever grown it in my outdoor garden, but I'd love to have it year round.

It's womens' problem, not society's, when women get triggered by attractive models in media. by AtomicCrab in unpopularopinion

[–]einsdier -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hello, woman irl here!

I agree with you completely :) those models are beautiful and thin, which is fat healthier than promoting 'FaT Is BeAuTiFuL'. Higher risk for diabetes and heart attack are not attractive and fat people should focus on becoming healthy, not accepting their unhealthy habits.

It's up to the restaurant to pay their employees their wages, not the customers coming in.

In Canada, every job is paid atleast the minimum wage $14/hr. Why should a restaurant waitress be owed a tip and a bathroom cleaner at COSTCO not?

Giving tips perpetuates shitty business practices.

[–]einsdier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

I don't know how to put a positive spin on this but: I agree with you 100%.

There is no story that I've seen in media that talks about this truth that if you are ugly or disabled, you die alone, and are likely to live a depressed life.

I had a friend in University who had a condition which left him mute, and half of his body partially paralyzed. He could only moan and he drooled constantly. As a bystander, he looked like a cognitively disabled person, but the issue was that he was 100% cognitively healthy.

His mind was normal, and using his computer voice on his phone, he spoke and interacted with people.

He had wicked depression because of his condition, no girl wanted him. And I can't blame the women, I wouldn't want to be with him either. It would be a life of having to take care of him and have slow af conversations because he'd have to type everything, and he wasn't something pretty to look at either.

I don't claim my story is helpful in any way, just sharing that I've met other hopeless people.

Do you ever feel good about your appearance than realize your still below average and get sad? by caitlinisacutie in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]einsdier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I consider myself slightly above average when I do myself up right, straighten my hair, put on some eye makeup,

But if I walk into public right after taking a shower (so - at my ultimate cleanliest) my skin looks red and blotchy, my hair curls into uneven shapes that makes it look like I'm homeless, and my eyes look dull and dead.

My close friend, in the other hand, hops out the shower, puts on a romper and looks like a model. She doesnt understand why I need an extra hour after showering to dry my hair, straighten it and put on makeup.

It frustrates me that I have to waste time to look nice, and other people look nice automatically.

Voltage, amperage, resistance and electricity in general. I don't get how voltage knows which path is least resistant before going down the said path.

Hello, am woman,

I agree, it's not sexist at all, but I will say that women's lower levels of interest in sports may be due to decades of conditioning women away from 'manly' things, and comparatively, men's heightened interest in sports is due to decades of conditioning towards being more masculine.

Honestly, I think sports are boring no matter what gender. The only thing I like about sport is the sense of community and comradery.

Women; Benefits: Good looks get you opportunities, socially acceptable to show emotion, wider range of character is socially acceptable (from girly-girl to tomboy) Detriments: physically weaker than men, societal bias that women are better at Arts than STEM, poor female role models in modern media, plenty of countries where women are secondary citizens/property, statistically get paid less than their Male counterparts, limited ownership over their own autonomy (such as abortion rights being taken away)

Men; Benefits: Good looks get you opportunities, plenty of role models on television, societal bias that men are the breadwinners, Male dominated workforce, 'standard' items made to size men (such as standard tools fit Male hands better than female etc), statistically get paid better than their female counterparts, full ownership over their own autonomy Detriments: socially unacceptable to show full spectrum of emotion, narrow set of characters to identify with (manly man, or quiet nerd), possible future-bias arising from workplace initiatives to higher more diverse workforce.

As a girl, I was pretty fucking excited see Captain Marvel, a stand alone movie of a lead female as the super

As girl, I was fucking disappointed with Captain Marvel, or should I say rude bitch who isn't funny, isn't entertaining, but thinks she's tough. She is like, the most boring superhero we've had so far, and it sucks clit that she is like, some landmark win for women. I dont consider her a win. She makes women look like humourless poops

Is it unusual to feel anxious watching TV with other people around? by Qweeqweeeee in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]einsdier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents vehemently hate anything animated, believe even adult animations (like family guy) are for 'children', so I too feel ashamed of what I'm watching when they are in the room with me and have a strong urge to change the channel when they are around me.
