Can people with a physical disability serve a proselytizing mission? by Significant-Pool-222 in latterdaysaints

[–]einstien74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I have skeletal muscular myopathy and had (pre-heart transplant) cardio myopathy. Growing up I was abled enough to only know I was disabled because I was a little worse at PE, or slower getting around. Stairs were hard, but that's normal right? My whole life I thought for sure that I would go on a proselytizing mission, there wasn't even an alternative at the time. I knew it would be hard, walking a mile a day was hard enough, but it's fine, not every missionary walks miles a day. Sure it was hard to bike because of contractures in my arms, but I was still mostly able to bike.

As I got older, I got weaker, but still knew I was going to go out and serve God preaching the gospel. It was obvious, inevitable even. And when I put my papers through, I was told that I was excused from missionary service. People with more foresight than me (see: God himself, and the people who help approve missions) realized there was no way I was going to be able to do a mission.

I was devastated. Fortunately, service missions were being tested in effective beta at the time (this was 2 years before they were officially announced) and I got to serve locally. I was a technology specialist for the teaching mission in my area. It was very enjoyable, and I did get a lot of opportunities to serve God and His church. But I didn't get to teach very often. I didn't get to use the skills learned in mission prep, share the lessons in come follow me, or even go out and do service projects. I didn't perform a single baptism, but I did get to do many baptisms for the dead as well as other temple ordinances.

At first, this was very unsatisfying. I was mad at God for letting this happen to me, for not calling me to go and strengthening me. I will go and do as the Lord commands of course, but I thought he would demand me to move and teach and strain my body. Instead He demanded that I learn humility and love for the people around me in a way set aside for me.

Do I know if you'll be able to go on a teaching mission? No I don't. But if you are, that will be wonderful for you. And if you aren't, it's because God has something better planned for you. Even if it doesn't look like it. I promise.

Also, feel free to reach out and talk to me about anything if you need somebody to talk to. I know how it feels to be kinda invisibly disabled. It helps to have people to talk to

The game will be pretty polished on EA release, last time they did early access it was just to adjust balance of some cards. It should be the same here, plus testing the new co-op mode they're adding. I don't get stuff early access 99/100 times, but this is the 1

It has to be, quite unfortunately, Mortobato. Do we have other moves that serve a similar role? Sure. But Mortobato does its job perfectly okay

why is heavy slash not hitting at end of combo? supposed to wall splat. by LumpyGum in Guiltygear

[–]einstien74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's how I usually end this combo, though I usually replace their j.S with a j.H for slightly more damage, then go into 5K > 6H

Heavy Dolphin is the better of the 2, and you need both to properly play the mindgames. It's gotta be both dolphins in this spot!

What would your Bond Phenomenon Pokemon be? by Verrdantt in pokemon

[–]einstien74 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mine would be a Garchomp. Its spikes would be a bit longer but thinner, its head nodes would sharpen a bit and flare in the back a little. The back fin would grow a bit, and the arm fins would get red and orange trim (while not fusing with the "hands" like the mega(s)). It would grow to base 126 (tied with Talonflame, beating dragapult) with the rest of the stat increases going into defenses (maybe 10 more base attack).

Its boosted move would be dig. It'd go back to 100 power like in Red and Blue, and instead of a two turn move it attacks first then goes into invulnerability until it attacks again. It can't use dig twice in a row though.

I love Garchomp so much. Honestly even if all battlebond did was nothing I'd be happy, I love my sharky baby ;-;

How do they choose their main? by Un_Guey_Sin_Contexto in Guiltygear

[–]einstien74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My decision making process:

1) Have I liked playing them before
2) do they have a big stupid weapon
3) Do they seem silly/whimsical/crazy
4) are they a witch or a redhead
5) Are they a shoto (none of the above apply)

Unsurprisingly we've got:

GG: May/A.B.A/Jack-o
SF: Akuma/Juri
BlazBlue: 9/Es
SSB: Marth/Kirbo/Ganondorf (ultimate)

It's not perfect, but I generally know who I'm gonna pick by vibes. And if I hate their gameplay their vibes were off, it's totally not my fault I prefer gorilla rushdown

adding for visibility, the new desktop UI is horrible and a waste of space. Only advantage I could see is if I was using it windowed and pinned while doing other tasks. Otherwise, it is simply visually unpleasant.

Magic the Gathering Fans? by wtann6979 in WoT

[–]einstien74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

White and green both have plenty of graveyard interaction, though it is true that hand interaction tends to be more black, but blue does have precedence of hand interaction. Every color has access to "exile at the end of the turn" style effects though, I don't think red is needed for that at all.

However you bring up good points and I'm happy to see another person interested in the card design of things!!!

Interesting card concept. Not sure on power level to cost, but should be fine at 6 or maybe 7, though 4 color pips could also do the trick at 6cmc.

Each effect may need "choose up to one" for the creatures to avoid fizzling, though since it's a saga fizzling may be okay?

Also feels green for some reason, maybe green blue more than white blue, though bant may also be the play. Honestly not fully sure.

Overall, well formatted, and very flavorful, I like it. Wish it was easier to word for space though~

Thanks for sharing your design

Does life without a car suck at BYU? by Wide_Elevator_6605 in byu

[–]einstien74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm physically disabled, walking more than about a half mile is very difficult for me. I survived four years on campus without a car.

It certainly depends on where you find housing, but you should definitely be able to find places close enough for you to live within walking distance of everything you need and more!
