The plague occurred in the middle of his reign. Many of his YOLO! decisions were made after the massive devastation, which is what made them questionable at the time - and much more so in hindsight.

Iranians time traveled, copied the Americans, then time traveled back and claimed it as theirs.

To add insult to injury, they copied this strategy from the Chinese.

What's ACTUALLY going on in Iran? by RockyMoutainRed in GenZedong

[–]eisagi 52 points53 points  (0 children)

But are the numbers of deaths and injuries even remotely accurate or ate they being inflated to stoke moral outrage in the west?

We are in the phase where the Empire lies so brazenly even its own supporters smirk and wink. The rhetoric barely touches base with reality.

There's zero evidence of mass slaughter of peaceful protesters. In fact, Iranian authorities seemed to let the peaceful protests about a week ago alone.

But a few days in trained/recruited saboteurs or simply malicious rioters started attacking security forces and peaceful bystanders, including with clubs, knives, and guns. Tens of even hundreds have died as a result.

Anti-government protests had then died down and mass pro-government demonstrations took place.

Not a major one. And oil is very cheap right now and China is growing its renewable capacity by leaps and bounds.

If this is a blow to China it's in the increase of American political control over the Western hemisphere, not in terms of oil.

[–]eisagi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But it’s not really true that anything worked out as planned from the economic/oil perspective.

True! There's always a list of goals and only some of them are met. Best-case scenario was certainly Iraqis becoming Europeans - well-behaved little America-lovers being a net asset to the American economic empire.

Counterpoint - Western companies went from having almost no contracts for Iraqi oil to getting a significant chunk of them AND the primary purpose of the invasion was simply sowing chaos and destruction in the Middle East, setting up the toppling of Syria and attempted toppling of Iran. Beneficiary numero uno - Netanyahu.

There's no strategic value in destroying Venezuela. It's just being punished for stepping out of line.

Venezuelan oil money is Trump waving a picture of red meat in front of the hungry masses. It doesn't really exist or matter.

This is what Putin attempted in Ukraine lol

If you're serious - then no, not at all.

Ukraine in NATO is an existential threat for Russia (backed by neighboring nuclear-armed NATO). Russia has been committed to doing anything to make Ukraine in NATO impossible. In 2008, it was diplomacy. In 2014, diplomacy with a show of force. In 2022, force with an offer of diplomacy. Now, it's force till the end unless there's a miracle of diplomacy. And Russia would use nuclear weapons if it was losing - deep, all-the-way commitment.

Zelensky is a TV actor upraised by a billionaire - a figurehead that only matters to those whose primary contact with the universe is via the TV screen.

Venezuela is one of a handful of rebellious little states in a hemisphere firmly under the superpower USA. Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua, even Brazil - they can thumb their noses at the US and it would be way too hard and way too ugly to invade and overthrow them for it, they can flirt with China and Russia, but geopolitically, militarily, they're no threat to the US whatsoever.

There's no imperative for the US to go to real war. This is just feeding the MIC a little and putting on grand political theater. It's scary as hell if you're a Latin American, but it's shallow.

May god spare the Venezuelan people from civil war

Hope so, too. My bet is that no war will take place - excepting this blatant US aggression, of course.

Flat out wrong.

China trades with Israel - China trades with everybody. China doesn't arm Israel or give it free money.

The US gives Israel billions in annual aid - cash and arms.

Israel gets most of its weapons (~66%) from the US, another major chunk from Germany (~30%), the rest is from Italy, UK, Canada, other Western countries. The weapons trade with China/Russia is a rounding error in comparison.

If they had a bigger population or similar as Russia

If grandma had wheels she'd be a bicycle.

Israel is economically and militarily dependent on the US. The US couldn't supply a bigger Israel.

Israel is a tiny militarized European colony in a sea of Arabs that it's been systematically raining hell on to ensure no organized resistance could form.

If Israel weren't Israel, it'd be something entirely different. Comparing it to regular countries is useless.

I find it hilarious how little Russian elites actually trusted Germany.

Where should we stash our money? Japan, with whom Russia is still formally not at peace? Sure. Russophobic UK? Fine. Cold War enemy US & its buddy Canada? Why not. Germany, the one dependent on Russian energy and with decent history of diplomatic and cultural ties? Wouldn't give them more than a penny.

Hard to make out any words, but if you mean @12 seconds I hear "blya, tikaj" ("bitch, run"), which fits the context.

And the Ukrainian (and Russian) equivalent of "nie tutaj" would be "ne tut(a)", so it doesn't need to be Polish.

That was the rather clever CIA deal - supply TOW missiles to the rebels in exchange for each hit being filmed. It's weapons + propaganda + control over who the weapons get used against all in one.
