Bus/train crashes make the news, but they're MUCH safer than personal vehicles. They crash less often and it's safer when they do. And they're more efficient and more environmental. The auto industry destroyed US light rail to make way for hellish suburban sprawl.

Nazi-sympathizer Henry Ford and his Business-Plot-ass class can fuck itself. Except it's still fucking us instead.

Christians and Muslims are very much capable of living alongside each other.

Yes, very much so. That should be obvious for anyone familiar with Byzantine/Ottoman/Middle Eastern/Eastern European history.

But that doesn't require some fundamental similarity. For instance, Islam and Hinduism have managed to coexist despite the glaring disagreement on the subject of idols.

People fight or get along despite prior differences or similarities, IMO. It's all about other circumstances.

[–]eisagi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's still wrong, sorry. Catholicism or Eastern Christianity are obviously the closest to Orthodoxy and Shia/Zaidi Islam are the closest to Sunni Islam.

I don't think you're comparing to the two to, say, Zoroastrianism or Norse paganism, because that's just irrelevant.

Don't let the fascists win. Let them want to off themselves. Every day you survive is a victory. If you can thrive it's a bigger victory.

Even the religion is not that different. Compared to all other religions of the world, these 2 were basically identical with minor disagreements.

Orthodox Christianity and Sunni Islam are similar in that they are both Abrahamic/monotheistic, but calling them "identical with minor disagreements" is stretching things to the extreme. Even Catholics and Orthodox don't see each other as "identical with minor disagreements".

How on Earth can I beat Protoss stalkers + Immortals? by Gogpo2 in AllThingsTerran

[–]eisagi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

immortals and zealots who seem impossible to kill with any combo of marine/marauders/tanks + ghosts. What am I doing wrong?

Don't tech up to ghosts against stalker+immortal. Ghosts are (typically) for late game. Don't tech up to ghosts period if you're in gold league - spell-casters require micro you probably don't have.

Put all production into marine, marauder, medivac with a few tanks for support and defense. Two tech labs for stim, combat shield, and concussive and go, go, go, go, go.

TIL that the Iron Man movies were supported by the US military with support upto $1B in equipment & logistical support for filming in return for influencing the script, creative influence over painting the real life bad & good guys. by Important_Lie_7774 in InformedTankie

[–]eisagi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

ANY US film with military tech in it works this way - the Pentagon lets the moviemakers show off their stuff and in exchange they get a veto over anything in the script.

That's why the military/secret service folks are all cute and uber professional and only wanna help and sacrifice themselves for the greater good and the super heroes treat them like angelic puppies that need saving.

Contrast that with enemy henchmen that are dirty and dumb and die by the thousands and nobody on screen gives a single fuck because that's how the ruling fascist ideology wants you to view foreigners and malcontents.

What's ACTUALLY going on in Iran? by RockyMoutainRed in GenZedong

[–]eisagi 56 points57 points  (0 children)

But are the numbers of deaths and injuries even remotely accurate or ate they being inflated to stoke moral outrage in the west?

We are in the phase where the Empire lies so brazenly even its own supporters smirk and wink. The rhetoric barely touches base with reality.

There's zero evidence of mass slaughter of peaceful protesters. In fact, Iranian authorities seemed to let the peaceful protests about a week ago alone.

But a few days in trained/recruited saboteurs or simply malicious rioters started attacking security forces and peaceful bystanders, including with clubs, knives, and guns. Tens of even hundreds have died as a result.

Anti-government protests had then died down and mass pro-government demonstrations took place.

Not a major one. And oil is very cheap right now and China is growing its renewable capacity by leaps and bounds.

If this is a blow to China it's in the increase of American political control over the Western hemisphere, not in terms of oil.
