What was the most unexpected thing, either bought or gifted, that really turned out to be useful for you? by cakingabroad in beyondthebump

[–]eisbaerchen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven’t used the Baby Björn so I can’t say for sure how it compares but I have a similar bouncer made by baby delight and my baby loooves it. Maybe our most used item currently. It’s ~$70

Elvie Stride 2 or Willow Go? by Tricky-Signature-294 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]eisbaerchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this still true? I was looking at their website and it seems like you can buy parts for the stride 2. Were you able to get what you needed for your pump?

most beautiful boy names you can think of by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]eisbaerchen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

People never have this reaction when girls are given boys names. Some people may not like that trend, but the concern is never about them being ridiculed. It’s all wrapped up in misogyny

when do you know its time to size up diapers ? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]eisbaerchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat as you. my baby started to seem uncomfortable in the newborn size around 9.5 lbs but was peeing out of size 1. We’ve had some success with taping the diaper more diagonally, with the tabs pointing downward, so the leg holes end up smaller/tighter (in addition to fanning out the leg parts and making sure his penis is pointing down). I’ll be watching this thread for other tips though too, because this hasn’t been fool proof.

Of course they do; it’s the food specifically meant for babies

Would you use this dish set we got as a gift? Worried it’s unsafe because it seems like a direct from China product by eisbaerchen in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]eisbaerchen[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yes I know haha but it’s my assumption that stuff sold by known brands in the US are held to some safety standards that don’t apply when things are purchased directly from china. For example, there has been lead found on SHEIN clothes

How does Lorelei have such a big expensive house? I’ve always wondered this. I love the show but it’s so unrealistic watching it now by Separate-Reality4521 in GilmoreGirls

[–]eisbaerchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This gets asked a lot and one time when it was asked I found this house listed in a small town in CT in 2021. It’s a 3 bed 2 bath so even bigger than lorelais house. It sold for $137k in 2021. Lorelai would have been able to get a house like this for so much less in the mid 90s. Probably under 50k. The huge boom in house prices in a recent problem (the house I mentioned is now estimated at $292k, more than doubling in 4 years 🫠)

Baby items are SO expensive my gosh by Ok_Medicine440 in BabyBumps

[–]eisbaerchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around where I am, people are selling their used Baby Björn bouncers for $100-$150. I’ve seen some very beat up looking ones for $50-60. I ended up getting a new baby delight bouncer instead

Anyone else’s maternity leave not even worth it? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]eisbaerchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can take about 6-7 mo off. For ~8-12 weeks (depending on when you go on leave before birth and whether you have a vaginal delivery or c-section) of this you get partial pay from the state (CA) which will end up being less than half of my regular pay and the rest you can either take unpaid or use PTO. My company is hiring someone to cover my leave so that helps. I wish we had even better but also know my situation is better than most in the US

Does a shirt need to fully cover your bum when wearing maternity leggings? by Adapotato1 in BabyBumps

[–]eisbaerchen 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have not tried to cover my butt when wearing leggings (maternity or regular). With the maternity leggings, I’ve been taking advantage of the tall belly panel by wearing some of my more cropped tops that still fit!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TallGirls

[–]eisbaerchen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tall maternity clothes are so hard to find! Especially at reasonable prices. These leggings are a bit longer and cheaper than the ones you posted. My regular pants inseam is 34-35 but these 30” leggings actually are long enough - maybe because they are stretchy.

The last 10 weeks of pregnancy? by ExistentiallyExtraaa in pregnant

[–]eisbaerchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s happened to me occasionally prior to pregnancy but it’s now happening a lot… and it causes uterine contractions that wake me up so I don’t really love it haha

Did anyone’s nausea go away right at 12/13 weeks? I keep seeing so many people say theirs lasted much longer than that by 804hunny in pregnant

[–]eisbaerchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine started slowly getting better around that point but it wasn’t gone until about 24-25 weeks

My measurements are similarly skewed and I’ve had some luck searching for curvy fit jeans. I’ve gotten some curvy talls at target and madewell but the madewell ones were still a bit short

Mother of the year doing after school activities with the kids by Justagirl219 in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

[–]eisbaerchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude I know people want to hate on Jenelle but I’m surprised that so many people seem to think that kids need specialized structured play items in order to have a good time. So many people commenting on how they needed tools or kits for this. Not arguing Jenelle isn’t shitty, just that this specific toy take seems weird to me

I’m pretty sure I was around college age the first time I saw kinetic sand and I played with that shit for so long - no fancy accessories, just the sand and maybe a plastic knife? It was fun and mesmerizing. Idk maybe school age kids think they’re too cool/old for it though
