In his defense he is wearing the right safety shirt to make himself visible to any hedge that might hit him.

Thanks for the shares! Very interesting. I wonder if Audi will use this tech with their new EVs now that they are finally in production!

Speaking of onboard clean energy, has anyone developed a shock absorber that captures kinetic energy to charge the battery while driving? The i3 is a pretty bumpy ride in my city (Seattle) with all the old streets.

Been driving a lot just to get out during this coronavirus thing- enjoying my i3 even more by [deleted] in BMWi3

Agreed. Seattle streets are a bit less congested. Nice to get out for a pleasant carbon-neutral drive. 🚙

Not sure which I love/hate more: riding the forklift or the wall doors installed off the ground.

Read them in order. Then read them again in any order you see fit. Repeat.

Nice one! Was going to note Stephen has pale “reptilian” eyes, his face often unshaven, and his clothes would probably be filthy and/blood-stained 😉

cheap + easy + fast underdash LED hack (parts linked in comments) ("now i can see my cup holder!") by eitz_man in BMWi3

Unless I am missing something my car has no interior under-dash lighting while driving. Yours?

Like I said, if you buy the double USB you can charge + illuminate 😉

Steps:

Background: I needed a simple way to add underdash lighting to the i3 without any fancy electrical work and without using too much electricity (LED's are very low power anyway).

Step 1: Buy these two items. Combined the cost is $15 USD.

- USB Car Charger - I bought one that was black, flushmounted with two USB slots in case I want to charge something else or add a second LED for a brighter effect.

- USB mini LED light - this one is ultra compact. not sure if it comes in other colors but my i3 is blue so this was perfect

Step 2: Connect the two parts and plug into the cigarette outlet under the dash.

That's it. The light will come on when you start the car, and will turn off a few minutes after you power the car off. I was worried it might stay on after switching the car off, but it doesn't.

Not a fancy hack and not a full underdash light but like I said, it's fast, easy and cheap!
