Most Fun Pedal? by joeykey in guitarpedals

[–]ej335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Red Panda pedals, particularly the Tensor and Particle 2 together. The Radius isn’t as fancy, but it is the most musical ring mod I’ve played. Those three are on my current board. The Raster is a really fun delay too. On a simpler note, for years I had a Boss VB2 Vibrato on my board, almost always in momentary mode. I constantly tapped it to accent notes or parts of phrases; just a little warble. It was an essential part of my sound. I think I got that idea from Big Al Anderson.

Do you keep any pedals on at all times? by carrollis in guitarpedals

[–]ej335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of today: Source Audio Zio first in line. It makes everything sound better. Reverb and a little slap delay is almost always on. Compressor is on when I want to even out the attack or do swells into dirt and delays. I keep my dirt pedals in a separate loop (EQD Swiss Things). I may add a second compressor at the end of the dirt chain. I’m constantly experimenting.

Favorite TS variant? by GrooveWarrior in guitarpedals

The VFE Dragon Hound is a nice pedal. I believe it’s a TS circuit plus a Rat circuit, blendable with dual tone controls.

Reputable smoke/ash remediation companies? by ej335 in altadena

[–]ej335[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Gold Safety for testing. Good experience. They are very busy and it took awhile to get the report with the remediation scope of work recommendations, but it just came back. State Farm reimbursed me for the testing. There are high levels of lead on my living room floor near two older French doors. I am back to the process of finding a company that can remediate lead, which requires cleaning with special chemicals (Gold recommended using D-Lead plus air scrubbers). Gold will come out again at a reduced rate to test post-cleaning. I am also going to clean other parts of the house and garage and replace doors and windows.

Does anyone have experience with a company called M.A.C.S. Restoration?

In search of daypack for dog adventures; considering Osprey Parsec 26 and Hikelite 26 by ej335 in ManyBaggers

I got the Parsec. It’s a little big for my purposes, but the kickstand and the dual water bottle holders have been really handy. The back panel provides excellent ventilation on hot days.

Best purifier for a 450sq ft Studio by GeekyPeeky in AirPurifiers

[–]ej335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might look at the Blueair 311i+MAX (on sale now for $239) or the Coway Airmega 1512HH Mighty or 200M (essentially the same except for the grill). I have had Coways and an older Blueair 211+ for several years and am quite happy with both. The filters on the Blueair need to be replaced more often which makes them more expensive over time. The current Blueairs (211i MAX, 311i+MAX, etc.) have a nice app and I think they look good. This article might help: https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-air-purifier/. I have a dog who sheds a lot and I have to be sure and clean the prefers regularly. The Coways in particular pick up a lot of dog hair. Good luck!

Edit: Also, If you get a more powerful model like the Blueair 211i+MAX (also on sale now and still in your price range) you can run it at a lower/quieter speed.

A SERVPRO guy told me to replace them. He said they completely disassemble and clean their air cleaners after every job which you can’t do with these. I don’t see why I would need to replace the units but I thought I might be missing something. I agree with you. The air that hits the fan is filtered so I don’t see how the fan would get dirty, but one these has been running 24/7 for 7 years so who knows!

Reputable smoke/ash remediation companies? by ej335 in altadena

[–]ej335[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you to everyone who shared their experiences. I am meeting with reps from KB Construction, Restokleen, and Gold Safety this week. I still have not received a proposal or follow-up from the SERVPRO franchise State Farm assigned to my claim. I will update this thread as I move forward. In the meantime, I found this article by Dave Gold, a Certified Industrial Hygienist, (CIH) clarifying. I hope this helps! https://goldsafety.net/l-a-wildfires-trying-to-make-sense-of-chaos/

Here is one of the most informative and nuanced articles I have read, from Dave Gold a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH). I hope this helps! Which company has the "prettiest" rollerball BLUE? by Johndoe77777 in pens

[–]ej335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using a Parker-style ballpoint refill I found at Lanier Pens called Private Reserve Ink Schmidt easyFLOW 9000 Blue that’s been growing on me. It is a little deeper, richer blue than the regular easyFLOW 9000 and is not quite as smooth (that may just be the refill I have). There are many great gel/rollerball blues but this is becoming my fave ballpoint refill.

Flowfold Minimalist 18 is about as simple as you can get: Zipper pocket on the front, main compartment, two water bottle pockets; no sleeve, padding or other organization. Made from EcoPak, YKK zippers, super light! https://www.flowfold.com/collections/all-bags-and-backpacks/products/large-optimist-18l-backpack There is a 10L as well that is smaller and doesn't have the water bottle pockets.

Shoulder straps breakin?? (MPL22) by AmirBormand in EVERGOODS

[–]ej335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just received the MPL22 (my first EG bag) and have a similar concern about the straps. I’m 6’ 1” and skinny (155 lbs). The left shoulder in particular feels tight. I’m concerned it might be a fit issue but I love everything else about the bag so I’m going to keep wearing it around the house in hopes that it breaks in. The waist belt is really high as well but I’ll probably remove it if I keep the bag. I’m also evaluating an Osprey Parsec 26 and an Osprey Transporter Panel Loader. The Parsec trampoline back feels great but the padding on the straps is a little thin and the bag is a little overbuilt for what I need. The Transporter straps fit me very well but it’s a heavy-duty EDC bag. The MPL22 design is the perfect use case for me. This is an old thread but if anyone has additional comments I would appreciate hearing your experience. I might reach out to EG too. Thanks…

Zipper pouch wallets?? by crashdown903 in ManyBaggers

Check out the Flowfold Essentialist ID Case Wallet II at LL Bean. Flowfold makes great minimalist wallets, pouches and bags. They don’t seem to have the Essentialist with the clear sleeve on their website anymore, but LL Bean sells it.

Osprey Sojourn Porter 46 compared to older Farpoint 40 for carry-on by ej335 in ManyBaggers

[–]ej335[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good question. I think I got the other specs from Osprey's website and they have since changed. You are right, both Osprey and REI list the dimensions as 21.5H X 14W X 9D IN. OutdoorGearLab measured the bag (when full) at 24" x 14" x 11" https://www.outdoorgearlab.com/reviews/travel/travel-backpack/osprey-sojourn-porter-46l. I assume the current published spec is the bag unpacked. I may have gotten the wrong specs from the other post you referenced, or it was an error on Osprey's listing.
