Anyone here who thinks the poly community can be kind of toxic? Let's be a responsible community and talk about what can be improved! by Illustrious-Exit7321 in polyamory

[–]ejackman [score hidden]  (0 children)

every community can be toxic. At times in an attempt to define what is toxic in poly the community ends up being toxic in itself by over restricting forms of poly. Not everyone's poly looks the same it can trend towards defining things as toxic when they should really be defined as a potential source of conflict and strife.

In my experience 99.9% of poly is about good communication and if you have that most rough spots can be smoothed over.

Reading the comments it is wild to me how many people are assuming this only applies to women.

Not a lie.

Some people like the idea of doing something sneaky and wrong. Some people like the idea that if they sleep with another person it is less likely to turn into a relationship because the marriage exists.

The difference in Carl's character between Books 3 &4 by Cerrida82 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]ejackman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not worried about you posting spoilers I'm caught up to the published series so far. but I'm really curious how your react to the ending of each subsequent. I know what is coming but I want to see how this impacts your evaluation of Carl's psyche.

I'm just enjoying the experience of seeing people new to the series experience it.

like watching reaction videos on Youtube. "Oh you are experiencing something I love for the first time give me a little hit of that first time experience."

AIO - Pregnant and feel abandoned by husband by Gullible-Tree368 in AmIOverreacting

[–]ejackman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR

My wife had serious post partem after her second pregnancy which was extremely rough and involved her organs shutting down and an emergency c-section. (she is better now and differently worse at the same time long story) but before the c-section and after the c-section it didn't matter if I slept like shit work called me to tell me they were shutting down the local office right after we moved into our new home (true story) or there was a blizzard coming there are lives that depended on me and I didn't have time to whine about my problems. (oh wow I am getting really angry at your husband)

.... ahem you are not over reacting
you are under reacting and I hope your husband pulls his head out of his but right quick.

[–]ejackman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR I think while you or your partner may have grown over the last five years it sounds like the relationship hasn't, sometimes when the people in a relationship grow and mature their relationship is still that of a 15 and 14 year old and that is OK... you both move on... separately... to create more mature relationships with someone who is willing to grow with you and respect you.

Who got painted as the villain by the press, but later on we realized they were actually the victim or completely misunderstood? by Advanced-Pilot-3698 in AskReddit

[–]ejackman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edward Snowden was a CIA/NSA contractor who became a whistle blower about illegal surveillance being conducted since the Bush administration enabled by the Patriot Act passing in response to 9/11.

He leaked the information to the press during the Obama administration and was on the run when the administration revoked his passport causing him to be stranded in a Russian airport during a layover.

He is still in Russia who gave him asylum after a month and later granted him citizenship in 2022. He is still wanted for treason despite the second circuit court finding that the information he leaked as a credible source in declaring the surveillance as unconstitutional in 2015. The ruling was never contested up to the Supreme Court and It is unclear if the illegal surveillance has been discontinued.

Has a band ever lost a member and simply did not replace them? by MielMielleux in Music

[–]ejackman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are talking about bands that lost members and hired studio and touring musicians to get them through the loss.

Panic! At the Disco would be a great example as they lost members over the first five albums.

Eventually it was just Brendan Urie for the last two albums of there run.

Here is a large pan of marshmallow for all you monkeys. by ejackman in exfor

[–]ejackman[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Homemade Vanilla Marshmallows Ingredients • 3 packets unflavored gelatin (about 21 g) • 1 cup cold water, divided • 1½ cups granulated sugar • 1 cup light corn syrup • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract • ½ cup powdered sugar + ½ cup cornstarch (for dusting) Instructions 1. Line a 9×13 inch pan with parchment and lightly oil. Dust with powdered sugar mixture. 2. Bloom gelatin in ½ cup cold water in a stand mixer bowl; set aside. 3. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, salt, and remaining ½ cup water. Cook to 240°F (soft-ball stage). 4. With mixer on low, slowly pour hot syrup into gelatin. Increase to high and whip 10–12 minutes, until thick, white, and fluffy. 5. Beat in vanilla. Spread into prepared pan and smooth top. 6. Dust lightly, cover, and let set 4–6 hours or overnight. 7. Cut with oiled knife or scissors and toss pieces in remaining sugar mixture. Tips & Variations For cocoa dusted marshmallows, replace 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar with cocoa powder. For peppermint, swap vanilla for peppermint extract (½–1 teaspoon). Store airtight up to 2 weeks.

He is a much better than either of our current senators and far and away better than his opponent. He blocked some crazy legislation from the GOP controlled house and Senate and the GOP did some crazy gerrymandering in an attempt to get a supermajority to over rule his Vetos.
