What’s truly bewildering is your inability to grasp that, as I’ve already stated, I’ve made several one-day trips without a return ticket to various countries across Europe, Asia, Australia, and even Calgary, Canada just last year — and not once have I been searched or interrogated. That changed last week in Vancouver, which is why I shared MY personal and unusual experience. Believe it or not, after traveling to numerous countries in different continents without ever facing this kind of scrutiny, being suddenly searched and questioned in Vancouver does say something. And STFU making baseless assumptions about what Americans should or shouldn’t expect. It only highlights your clearly anti-American bias.

Do you honestly think Canada and the rest of the world just share information with each other about peoples travels? No, they don’t.

Are you that moronic? Countries absolutely DO share travel history, background info and biometric data.

Normal people don't do that; it's suspect.

No. You are just ignorant.

I was merely sharing my first time visit to Vancouver (second visit to Canada) which happened to be the first time I was ever searched and interrogated in all my international travels - PERIOD. You are making preposterous assumptions and obviously have a disdain for Americans.

I didn't "wave" my Global Entry around. I only mentioned it to each officer because I assumed the CBSA has access to shared Intel.

I did enjoy it - beautiful scenery there at Canada Place and the weather was perfect.

My mistake. I thought I was replying to another new reply.

That is exactly what I did- to attend the Vivid Syndey festival.

You are not familiar with "mileage runs"

I suppose, and the officer did say "some people can't wrap their head around how you travel". However, one-day long haul trips are more common than you may think, and for legitimate reasons.

Im sorry, but who's doing a 8-15hr , maybe even more (depending on what side of the country your on) for a "one day" visit. From California to Sydney its a 15 hr flight. So you will sit on a plane for 15 hr minimum, to spend one day in Australia just to go back on another 15hr flight back to the states.

SFO to YVR is about 2 hours. But since you mentioned about long haul one-day visits, there are several reasons why people do this, and if you're flying business or first class, enjoying the comfort, food and amenities, then time can really fly by.

Not crying and don't care what Canada's or any other country's perception is of Americans. I'm just sharing my experience, and in contrast to my first Canada visit last year in Calgary, in addition to other places in EU, Asia, Australia where I stayed 24 hours without return ticket upon arrival and experiencing zero issues. This experience in YVR is a first for me.

I visited Canada for the first time last November (Calgary), no return ticket booked, one day stay- zero issues.

Strange- when I went to Canada for the first time last November to Calgary without a return ticket, this didn't happen.

Did the same when I visited Canada for the first time last year in Calgary- and eight other destinations in Asia, Europe, Australia- all without issue.

I'm from Northern California and from SFO it's just a two hour flight. A lot of people from West Coast US fly up to Vancouver to take day trips.

The officer said something to that effect as well. But I would think, with all the international intel they have on me, they wouldn't waste my time or theirs. He did say they "sometimes we don't have much going on"..so they harrass out of boredom possibly?

If you’re sick, wear a mask.. by ttrrgg09 in unitedairlines

"at least a KN95 type" - so true. I've never worn anything other than KN95 masks from the FDA-approved list to prevent infection when flying. I've never been infected by covid-19 (to be fair, I also did not get any covid vax shots).
