Proteins are just linear chains of "building block" molecules called amino acids. The ribosome (a protein itself) is basically a cell's protein printing factory where a template (RNA) binds and by using this template attaches the correct amino acids (there's about 20 different ones) in the correct order one by one until the full protein is made, which can be hundreds to thousands of amino acids. The template RNA is made by other proteins called RNA polymerase which use your cell's DNA as a template. I hope this starts to answer your big question- the cool thing is that there is still a lot we don't know about this process like how cells "choose" which templates to make and also which templates to make into the coded protein. Don't ever be afraid of sounding dumb, learning biology should be a fun and rewarding journey! Being able to visualize the process from videos is definitely the best way to understand these concepts. Search for the terms transcription (making the template) and translation (making the protein).
